Growing in a garage, heat signiture?

Hi guys,

I've recently moved to a new place which has a nice garage and I fancy setting up a grow. It's a standalone garage: not attached to the house. It has double glazing an, however it is not sealed around the wall/roof join and there is about a half inch gap all the way around so it's nice and airy in there.

Planning on a 400/600w in a 120x120x200 tent with 5inch fan and filter most likely just venting into the garage itself however there is a dryer vent in there which I could use but this would require running duct across the floor.

No one can see into the garage from the outside, both windows face into my own garden with nothing overlooking, windows and doors have locks on them and the garden is fenced and gated in a nice area so it's a nice secure location. My only concern is heat signature in the uninsulated garage with winter coming along.

Here is a floor plan of the garage, tent locations are where they are because you wont be able to see it through the windows from the patio.

What are everyones thoughts/advice?

Cheers!

so it snows there? That might be obvious some heat is in there.
Not usually no but knowing my luck it'll be a white Christmas! The garage itself is pretty big, it's about 2.5mx6m so would the heat dissipate before it could melt anything on top?

looks fine bro, your only running 1 lamp so it wont have much of a signature from inside your tent plus cops generally dont bother with grows less than 10 or more lamps running haha your just growing personal not trying to become the next kingpin, youll be fine ;D

I agree with bf with all the heat that would come off of one lamp it could easily be thought just to be a dryer or heater in the garage. Not sure what the cops are like in your area but around here I have never seen or heard of a single account of them driving around randomly scoping for heat radiation. I would be worried if your were running a big op and unloading a shit load of heat out of the garage but for what your planning I would go for it if it were me ;-)

Is the garage heated? If not, low temps will kill the plants.
The garage is not heated no but winters here a pretty mild and the garage never gets anywhere near freezing. I plan on running the light during the night to keep the worst of the temperature at bay. I'd be very surprised if temps drop below 14/15 Celcius in the tent, in the garage.

What are my options if it gets too cold? heat matt? heater fan for intake when the light is off?

Since you are growing in a tent the light itself will produce enough heat to keep it warm enough.. I think if anything just run your exhaust fans on lower speed and dial it in till you are letting the lighting do the heat and exhaust is dialed to keep the heat in ..The actual temp from the garage and the tent with the lighting in it will be much different. And as I said if your exhaust is removing the warm air too fast and causing the tent to get cold if you have speed adjustment on your exhaust fan ..simply slow it down till you get it dialed in .. I would think you will be fine that way..Just my opinion though ;)

Thanks Wildwoodflower, I think I'll okay un till it gets really cold around december time. Like you say, I will use the fan speed to control the temps as best as I can and I'll insulate the pots from the cold concrete floor. I have some laminate floor underlay lying around that will work great.
