growing in humid environments

I live in Suriname, a country in South America. this country has an 80% air humidity and the temperature during the day is around the 30C (about 86 F). and I want to grow 2 or 3 plants in a closet. are there any tips for beginners? stuff I have to make sure of I have and do. I only want a few plants for self consumption and that's it, so I'm not trying to make a fancy amazing grow room. a friend here, told me that the soil in this country (in the cities at least) is quite acidic, which should also be a factor for growth. (though I'm not sure of it, I haven't tested it). nevertheless, any input would be appreciated.

I'm as beginner as it can be.

If you just need the environment in a closet to be suitable....
Dehumidifier
It's far more important during FLOWER than VEG.
Vegging plants are OK with high humidity.
But during flower, If too humid the buds get fungus
Stretchy strains, with poor looking buds, are actually better at handling high humidity than the 'donkey dick' indica buds that everyone wants.

ACIDIC SOIL
PH test the soil
and add whatever to change the pH.

If you cannot get a pH pen or wand, by some cheap Litmus papers

When you know the pH there will be several soil growing people who can advise you.

Just checking, but when you said the soil there is acidic are you talking about the ground soil outside? Because if youre growing in a closet, then potting soil should be used..not earth from the ground.

I mean not only the soil outside but also the potsoil they sell here....this country is pretty much third world, but without large amount of people dying and slightly better infrastructure. just expect everything to be bad here.

I actually want to plant a hybrid. just one strain, 2 or 3 plants. for self consumption. all the weed you can buy on the black market here looks brown, just ugly brown, cause of all the mold. it's terrible, this is why I want to plant my own. plus there aren't a lot of different strains where I live

you may be growing mold yourself with humidity like that. even in veg. if they can't transpire, you may have problems. so ventilation and air circulation will help.

a dehumidifier in a closet may help but you will then have way high temps. if you bring in fresh humid air, your dehumidifier will always run and not do very much.

i would air condition the room the closet is in. exhaust the closet to outside with passive intake pulling air from the a/c room. you may need to run an air cooled hood depending on your lighting.

you still may need to use a dehumidifier, but i would run that in the room and not the closet.

i would set it all up and running before you start planting so you can get a baseline of temps and r/h.

I already expected that with this kind of humidity molds would be a big problem. but running airconditioning all day long is not cheap. isn't there a simpler way for me to lessen the humidity in the closet?

cheaper option is stuff like damp rid will help lower the r/h a small amount.

during veg. and early half of flowering you should be alright with ventilation and a circ. fan on 24/7. but as flowering progresses, you will want to start getting the r/h down.

from week 6 of flowering till finish, you will want to get r/h down as low as you can.

i understand you want to try and go inexpensive your first go around, but with temps and humidity like that you may be looking at budrot near the end of week 7 on your biggest tightest stickiest tops.

is your humidity like that just during a certain part of the year? then you could try and time the flowering to finish during the dry season.

sadly enough, no. it's like this all year long. this is the reason why all the weed they sell here on the black market is brown and moldy...
