Growing in plain view?

So, I live in a fairly up-scale neighborhood in a state in the bible belt, and I was wondering if anyone had anytips to make my plants not stand out outdoors. Every year I have a classic American outdoor garden (tomatoes, herbs, carrots, etc) but this year I feel like trying to grow some pot outside. I am experienced in both outdoor and indoor growing, and already have 3 plants started, just wondering if anyone has any tips for me to grow near my house, since the outdoor place I usually grow has become over-infested with deer. I don't want to grow indoors because I don't feel like paying for lights or electric (and because my landlord would get suspicious of the extra electric usage, I ironically rent my house from a local church). SO, any tips? Oh and we don't have a neighborhood crime watch.

If you cut all the leaves in half (across the tips) it looks like a shrub of some sort, very simple camoflauge. I have to admit that even though I tried it once and succeded, doesnt mean this is neccesarily good for a plant though. If your interested ask some of the pro's and see if its an unhealthy thing to do to your plants!!!

if you cut off all your fingertips at the first knuckle and lop off your legs halfway down your shin people might think your a midget.

maybe ask a doctor first to see if this is harmful though.:wall:

Take a piece of metal rod, something bendable, and bend it into the shape of an ‘M’ but with rounded tops instead of pointed like the letter. As your plants grow loosely tie them to the ‘M’ shape. They will grow up and down and up and down and always will try to grow up but they will be forced to remain closer to the ground and less visible.

Another, and a better way to do it is to build a trellis with horizontal wires or rods and when your plants reach the first wire/rod tie the plants to it and then keep tying them to it until they grow the width of the wire/rod trellis and then let it grow up to the next level and do the same thing in the opposite direction and so on until your plants mature or you run out of wire/rod.

You said you do not have a neighborhood watch but do you have electric meter readers and anyone else who will come through your yard on at least a somewhat frequent basis?

you can stake them down yo grow horiz. put among other stuff

grow 1 plant up each row of std garden stuff.

Look man I dont want any problems, I tried it and it worked, twice!!! I told him to ask a pro first, Im just posting my opinion for him to look into!!! People trim nearly all the leaves off during budding, for better light penetration!!! If Im wrong plz feel free to correct me.

buds are flowers and the leaves are the solar panels collecting the suns energy that grow the flowers. removing the leaves will do nothing but slow the growth of your buds during flower. too many people forget that pot is just a normal flowering plant and is just like your mothers flowers in her garden. generally people who do this do not have the slightest clue about how plants work.

the only time it would be wise to trim some leaves is when they are too big and are touching buds. this can cause mold so a few leaves may be trimmed but would be better to tie them up.

i was mostly joking, stoned and bored. the finger/foot reference was a bit severe. but this man below says it good enough im not gonna type my version.

i will add though, that i used to loose alot of leaves throughout flowering. i thought this was normal and just waited till they were about to fall and plucked them. i recently started upping the nitrogen in my flowering formula and not only did i keep nearly all my fan leaves through flower, but my yield increased significantly.

bud don't collect light, leaves do. ;-)

Actually all green surfaces of every plant will collect light but most places that are green on plants are very inefficient at it.

The big fan leaves are the main solar collectors by far. It would take a lot of branches and stem and buds to make up for the fan leaves.

So you actually had better results in yield by simply leaving most leaves intact. Was it a very noticable diffferance to you?sorry for the question if its stupid I usually trimm a large amount of my leaves for better light penetration, so if it was a big diff in yield I was going to try it for once!!!

a massive difference.

i used to start losing my leaves as they yellowed around wk 4 of flower and it steadily progressed, i would lose at least half my leaves. i started adding some of my grow formula on my last grow and barely lost any leaves. ive upped the N more for this grow and at 4 1/2 wks i havent lost a single leaf and my buds are getting huge.

you should be fine, just plant it in the middle of your garden. If i was you, i wouldnt be worried about neighbors as much as helicopters.

yes you can, i grew 5 plants in plain view, most of them beside a bush, or a bushy tree , i would cut out a little spot to slide the plant in and let the grass grow up around the bucket, ( i used a 10 gallon bucked and spray panted it black with a little green) you couldent see shit. the only way you could tell it was there was if you knew it was. it's very nerve racking tho. i let them get a little to tall, keep them about 4-5 foot tall. if you do it right no one will see them.

Bible belt eh? Well depending upon where you live do you want to risk having the law involved? The law can be very, very strict in these parts. My opinion would be to grow them inside, or somewhere else outside that you know is safe. However, if this does not satisfy you I suggest that put up one of those decorative wooden fences up around your garden and maybe even grow some other bushy plants near/around your medicine to mask it.
