Growing in Rockwool. Changing It Up

Kinda just thinking outloud. I usually set my clones right into 6" Rockwool blocks and take them all the way to harvest. I recently made a vegg/clone cabinet . I will be making my own clones from now on and I am thinking of vegging my babies in 4" blocks for 6 weeks and when it comes time to put them in the flower room , I am thinking of putting them on top of 6" blocks or maybe trying 2 of the 36" slabs. Three babies per slab. I want to try vegging in the 4" blocks so I can keep things compact in the cabinet. I just don't know how the roots will spread into the slabs when I will be putting them into 12/12 right away. I'm thinking that if the plant keeps stretching for about 4 weeks , the roots should stretch also.
Has anybody else already done this to their grow? I don't use anything but rockwool blocks. Looking for a few comments and / or ideas .

My best friends dad used that same set up ( the slabs) to run 700 plants and it worked for him. If you are schooled in RW that would work. Oh he ended up doing 5 years. LOL

I ran my first and only grow in 4" blocks, in a tent. Putting the 4" on top of the 6" would lose me 6" of height.
I wonder how tall the slabs are? You were growing in 6" cubes, if you go to the 4" and the slabs are only 2-4" thick you would only lose 0-2" in height.

I'm just thinking out loud, Cheers

thats what I was thinking on the height also. I only need to worry about the height in the vegg room . My flower room is plenty tall. The slabs are 3" high, 6" deep , and 36" long. I think I will try the slabs. If I am not happy , I can always change things again. This is just planning my next grow. my current grow is just getting started. If I am going to get going on my clones and making my op. perpetual , I need to plan ahead. I was originally thinking of the 4" cubes so I can design a smaller flood system to fit cabinet just for vegging. I can handle having a smaller harvest because of size of plants. As long as I stay with 8 week strains , I can have a harvest every 8 weeks. At least 12 ozs. with my light on 600W all the time. More when I get my shit together. I am curious how my babies will veg under my new T-5 lights. I only have one plant that is big enough to take a couple clippings right now........ so I did. I topped the plant and took two clippings from the bottom on Tueday. I wanted to try out my Rapid Rooter plugs I bought and the clone tray with dome. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them in my journal. They are really perking up today.

I bought some rockwool plugs also. I am going to do some experimenting. They are round plugs that fit right into the holes.
