Growing in the Southern Midwest

I am considering the possibilities of growing outdoors in the Missouri Ozarks. I have done hours of searching and have come up with very little useful grow information specific to the area.
So, I was wondering if other growers from the southern Midwest might be able to provide any advice like strain selection for mold issues, etc to a grower who wants to relocate to this area.
Some stats from the area:
First frost average Oct 25
Last frost Apr 15
Precipitation around 42"
Soil is rocky as fuck but porous.
Hot and humid in the summer.

Don't know much about growing outdoors, but that is a short window, i bet you will have best success iff u can let plants grow indoor in winter then move them outside when they get bigger

You have lots of options as far as strains as long as they are not a pure long finishing sativa.
I have a shorter growing season then you and grow some monsters, key is to start them indoors. I pop mine mid to end of Feb and end up with huge plants.
If your soil is too hard to dig into then smart pots will do you good.

It may not be as long a growing period as the valleys of Cali or the deep south but longer than many areas that grow some trees.
My biggest unknown is whether dense bud structure rot in the heat, humidity, and weekly thunderstorms of the area.

I hear that raised bed gardening is popular in the rockier parts of the area. I would probably use pots of some sort.

I am starting to wonder if anyone even grows weed down in southern Missouri. Maybe, it's the draconian laws, or just the lack of internet literacy, JK!

My cousin used to grow in Joplin, mo. back in the day. He grew some monsters!

I would love to grow in the Ozarks! Been going there my whole life. The humidity out there is inevitable. Good luck though, land is cheap there. Almost considered staying but the laws are horrendous in Mo. Also, immense amounts of wild hemp

I really like it there, what little time I've spent there.
