I gotta be honest, so far growing marijuana has proven to be quite difficult, seedlings need to be cared as babies, but honestly, it wouldn't be expensive/difficult if it was completely legal. Just imagine how much a bunch of seeds would cost? Very cheap, you could just throw a bunch and survival of the fittest but since right now each one is like $14 then that's why I'm caring so much.

sounds like you're nervous , seen a lot on here really people treat their pot plants like the most expensive faberge egg.
they create and "see" problems that arent even there.
they are so scared over every single little thing "i accidently touched my pot and it shook, is my plant in shock now?!"
meanwhile they have a house plant that hasnt been watered in 3 weeks and is still living,
its just cause of the money invested in growing that people get so nervous about. it would be mucher easier if newer growers just relaxed and realized that marijuana is a plant resilient and strong.
would help if people grew a tomato or herb plant first too

Resign yourself to making a few mistakes at the start,its the only way to learn.Just make sure you take away some knowledge you can apply to your future grows.

You can always make seeds. Then you'll have all the seeds you need to practice your growing..

I admit the legal status is stupid an an impediment.
But, have you successfully grown any other kind of crop plant? Most are legal, but the same hazards kill newb tomato farmers too.
I seriously recommend practicing with bagseed or tomatoes, even if you cull before harvest.

I dont get how its legal status impeads growing it, theres more sites, growshops and growers than any other home grown plant species, we even have mj specific nutes, soils and lights thrown at us from a vast range of commercial companies. I pay 2-3£/€ a seed which is quite low compared to the returns at harvest.
As a grower i couldnt ask for more, pretty much living the dream here. If anything its legal status has perpetuated our business into to a modern farming process.
I refuse to support legalization, you can go pay tax on your goverment controlled grows and get your weed of the 'MAN' if you want.

From the POV of many growers, it would be easier to learn to grow if it were legal. There's truth to that.
At the same time, constraints breed innovation. The legal status may have, as you said, pushed innovation forward and benefitted the community as a whole.

I dont know if your a member on a leading tomato or pepper site but its very clear that the legal impeadment has actually made our site a lot more technical, advanced and popular than other legal plant sites.
Theres no truth to that, being illegal has pushed us to the front of the growing edge.

Personally I don't see the cost of seeds changing that much if/when cannabis becomes completely legal world wide. The cost of the seed really comes down the strain and the breeder reputation.
I have noticed the cost of some lights/supplies has gone up since more states have gone legal. Maybe it's just inflation, or there's more growers and the demand of supplies causes suppliers to jack up the price because they know someone new to growing will pay it. Example (I have a 150w cfl that I got for 55$, now costs 75$, a DWC kit was once 40$ has now become 60$)
As far as the difficulties we face growing illegal vs legal, aside from legal ramifications, we still face the same issues: Setting up grow rooms, keeping them safe from those who might wish to steal/scam us, dialing in our nutrients, maintaining the climate etc.
Lots of growers have started out knowing very little and by doing some researching online and through forums here, they have been able to produce successful harvests time and time again.
I will agree though, that being illegal has driven the innovations of hiding/protecting the grows. Though thanks to the sneaky bastards trying to get free nugs, those aspects I don't think will change much.

Hahaha I snapped my plant right at the base moving it into my flower tent from my veg tent damn sativas anyways propped it up with a pool stick and hemp twine it's fine now

I can grow 20 tomato plants outside this summer without issue. Thats 20 plants worth of growing experience in a single season. I can't do that with Cannabis.
That is an impediment to me, and many others. Also, the cost of highly quality tomato seed is $3 for 25 seeds. That's for a 200 year old heirloom line. The top shelf stuff.
I'm agreeing with you that overall it was likely a benefit to the community. As I said, constraints breed innovation. But for the individual, it is an impediment to learning at a pace that would be equivalent to that of a legal plant.

My first grow from seeds were tomato plants too. Great learning tool, but I also had a ton of brick bag weed seeds I planted along side them and learned from that before investing in quality seeds.
I think all I want to say is: "Fuck the police", "fuck the government". For a government to threat to put you in jail for growing or smoking something you have an inherent right to smoke as a human being because they grow naturally in our planet is just slavery.

HMMM Preaching to the choir my friend...as for the criminal status of cannabis and difficulty in cultivating it...I am one of many many growerz who have not had any difficulty cultivating due to one common thing. We took the time to read and learn before attempting to grow.
You said if seeds were cheaper you could throw a few in some dirt and then go by 'survival of the fittest'? You can do that now, illegal or not. But, what will that get you...maybe a couple of hits and a headache from smoking hemp quality ragweed.
The statement in my signature says it all. Do we live in a Neo-Nazi police State...YES indeed. But if you truly have a desire to cultivate quality MEDICINE. The only thing you are up against is morality. Personally, I think it would be a crime to not cultivate and help the people I know who suffer from a variety of maladies.

That's why I think every grow tent that is sold should come with a sticker on the door that that says "IT'S JUST A WEED!!!". As a constant reminder to new growers.
The truth of the matter is, marijuana is not difficult to grow at all. In fact, it's incredibly easy to grow. Growing it extremely well is difficult, that's true, but really one of the most difficult things about growing marijuana is that people are always trying to do things to it that it doesn't need and they should not be bothering it with. I would speculate that the vast majority of marijuana plants that die don't die because they just died - they died because their owner killed them instead of just leaving them the hell alone when they didn't need to be messed with.
That's the hardest part of growing marijuana for a lot of people - knowing when to just get the heck out of the way and let it do what it does.
