Growing Medium - Cat Litter?!

Hi all, I'm new to the site and growing for that matter! My question is about growing medium. What do you find works best? I have been growing Northern Lights from seed for 2 weeks now. They're growing in store bought seeding soil but I have found that it tends to become very compacted with watering and I'm worried the roots aren't getting enough air!

I'm planning on re-potting soon and was wondering whether mixing the soil with cat litter would provide a good growing medium? Also, do you think 3 weeks is enough time to give a plant before re-potting? I don't want to stress the plant too much.

Thanks in advance for the advice..

Use pearlite not catlitter...idk if cat litter would be bad tho.... the clumping kind would be bad

Ive never thought about it for a "MEDIUM" but i have thought about it being a replacement for carbon? If it can make her shit not stink that bad, it has to work, LoL.

Don't go cheap on your medium! I am also growing NL right now and I had a big problem with cheap ass soil! Check out my grow in my signature. I have my ladies in Fox farms ocean forest, I also started my bubblicious in FFOF from seed and they love it! one other thing is that my NL girls don't like ANYTHING over 50% ferts. So take it easy bro. If you need any advice pm me or just ask in my grow log. GL Grow big or go home!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm going to buy some better soil and a bigger pot tomorrow. Would you say it's ok to re-pot after 3 weeks of growth from seed? They're 2 weeks old today and looking really good so far, about 7 inches in height from the soil, healthy looking leaves and plenty of new growth. As I was saying above, I'm a little worried about stressing the plants so early on. What do you think?

If you have the room trasplant it into its final pot. And yeah you can transplant it no problem, do it in a dark room with little light. And do it right before you water it. Make sure the soil is dry. I would go with FFOF soil, it self regulates it's ph and I was haveing big problems before I spent the $13 on a bag of that soil. After this first use I will never go back to any soil! Maybe coco but for soil it is Fox Farms! Here is a site to help you find a local dealer.

Just pick your state then go from there. Oh and you are right you want to transplant as few times as possible so if you can get it into its final bucket tomorrow. GL bro!
