I asked my grandparents one time how they got by out on the plains with no electricity. My grandma said, "We had electricity!….We had a wind-charger!" I asked what that was and they said it was like a windmill that generated enough electricity to run a few lightbulbs….But that was nearly 100 years ago! Maybe there are wind chargers now that work even better….? Problem is….in the PNW, we don't have much wind. In fact, we don't have wind, sun, waves….much of anything that we can tap into….and yet, lots of the people who live around here, are the types who really look for alternative forms of energy….so…mmmmmmaybe someday!
I'm certainly going to pick my buddy's brains about this a bit more, though and I'll bring up some of these questions to him and see what he says….I'm sure the solar guys had some specific answers to these kinds of things….
