growing potatoes in a box

100_1540.jpg100_1541.jpg100_1542.jpg100_1543.jpg100_1544.jpg100_1545.jpgI used 2 free flats that was from construction workers in the area,,covered bottom with fabric to let water through,added the 2x4s--5 dollars for them for 2 boxes,,went to saw mill and got slats free--cut to lengthput 4 inches of soil--added 6 seed potatoes--will add second slats 6 more potatoes when 1 st potatoes come up--repete until you have 3 layers of potatoes at different levels--fertilize and water.average 125 to 150 lbs per box.i just do this to play around I have a large garden.will post pics of it!!!

you can open a board on bottom in 60 or so days for early potatoes.dig a few out and board back up.wait till vines die and box will be full !!!

This is really cool. I'm going to have to remember this for next year...decided against potatoes because I thought I didn't have enough room, clearly I failed to think *wait for it*...outside the box. :D

I grow them in a 40 gal Hefty trash can (drilled drain holes). I like your idea better than the cans.

cool idea, great job! how many different ways can potatoes be cooked.??????

Its a nice attempt man..At least now to get tasty french fries would not be a problem more when ever you want to eat,even in mid nights :) :)
