Growing problems

Currently my plants are day 35 of flower. 50% happyfrog, 25% perlite, 25% ewc. They was fed Gaia green 284 last month and top dressed again last week. The problem persists. Ph is good. I’m a novice grower but seems like a nitrogen deficiency?? I been introducing cal mag into the waterings of the very sick looking ones and no help at all. I have 3 different strains. Front of the tent is wedding cake X BBC, the back of the tent is nana glue. The other side of the tent is all nana sherbet. Looks like the nana glue is showing the worst then the wedding cake. The nana sherbet was doing well and is now starting to show signs of the lower foliage to yellow and die off. Also progressing to the top.

Low nitrogen after the stretch and swelling. Maybe some damping off where it got a little to dry at some point and killed off some leaf. Just a guess

Adding that much perlite to potting soil IMO would be a bit to airy. Do you feel like it holds a good amount of water when saturated? If not which is my guess you have to feed a bit heavier, almost like coco.

25% perlite works fine. It helps offset his 25% ewc which definitely needs the added aeration amendment

You are correct. You can also grow in 100% perlite but there becomes a point with too much aeration the soil is spread too thin to hold proper nutrition (imo is the point of soil). I don't know what his medium feels like but I've ran too heavy and too light too many times to figure out there is a HAPPY MEDIUM. Again this is coming from a crazy old bro-scientist.

Interesting theory about it being too loose and not holding enough nutrients. I've always looked at it like I don't want the mix to stay too saturated. I want it to dry out somewhat easily so the roots have to go exploring. I can always compensate my amended soil with liquid ferts of some kind. more bro science!

I agree , although I feel like because I'm on a forum I'm supposed to hatefully disagree. for my lifestyle I need 5 gallon pots to hold as least 2 days of water, but when ive had it too thin and I'm feeding daily they sure do explode its just too much excitement for me.

What is your water source ?
What is your ph used ?

Reason im asking - excess calcium ( IE calmag ) can and does interfere with nute uptake. I also see purple stems . EWC is a nitrogen source but your light leaves show it is not becoming available to plant.

Although you are in flower - nitrogen is important to maintain cell health / pigmentation ( leaf / plant ) and photosynthesis.

Lol that is the RIU way! But nah, it's always interesting to hear others' reasoning behind why they do things the way they do. I love it because it gives me more things to consider. I think along this same discussion that azomite (or glacial rock dust or granite dust) are key amendments in the soil's overall ability to sustain nutrients/microbial life.

What is supposed to be the flower time on those? This late in flower you would use sulfer rather than calcium. Don't act like it's a loss you should still have some fire. That's just fall colors. :bigjoint:

Fish hydrolysate is a great addition, it will boost the nitrogen in early flower and is loaded with aminos.

Tap water. It is ph to 6.3. Currently my soil tests at 6.5. I’m currently brewing ewc. Hopefully that helps.

The good thing is using organics, the noob mistake is to add a bunch of more stuff that won't work and not even understanding what's happening. At least it won't taste like chemical ass with organics.

i always add some char-coal/ char bliss , helps to hold nutes for the roots to work with.

i dump some flower girl organic, fertz to my water shake it up good them ,use the good stuff in the water ,then top dress with what is left in bottom of the water can.
