Thx TLD. Hope things are turning out for you. You may not be so proud of me if you saw all the rot goin gon over here. It's depressing. It has been raining for 3 days now. Started slow but it has been raining all day today and things are soaked out there. THe JB is a total loss. DW 3 has only 1/3 of the buds left that are not rotted. I dont think the CI x BB (largest plant) will make it. If the papaya makes it through this rain it will be a miracle. DW 1 and 2 are holding on for dear life at this moment. Should of covered them but I dont think I could of done it in time. I did get the rest down. THe Ult Chem had a lot of damage but I salvaged some. The C 99 will be good and I cut 1/2 2 weeks ago and then the bottom half now. I really want to try out the LA Con x ECSD as it was really gooy and has a distinct diesel smell. I thought the BCK purple would be black as hell but it lost its color after drying. I almost thought I must of mislabeled it but I didnt. Oh well. That's the status. Trimming trimming and more trimming.

Man, you guys down south just can't catch a break this year. This can be your learning year as to the plants that did the best in your particular area, then grow those exclusive in you future gardens. Did pretty good this season so if you run short for your personal, mama and I will fill your jar. Best of wishes to you my friend.

even after heavy rains..... the buds on the plants that hadn't been harvested hadn't rotted... just ones that were hung outside to dry... Im intrigued...

On mine the plants that went into flower late, because they were the last to pop, had the most problem. Their buds were inbetween hard and fluffy and made them like sponges. I will grow JB and DW next year because I like the way they started out and if they would have finished they would have been killer. I forgot last year I made a little hut for the plants to shield them from the rain. I shouda done it somehow but I didnt have time. It misted for 2 days on and off and I didnt think it would rain but the next day at 4 am downpour for 2 days on and off. After the second day of mist I took down the HAOGK cuz it fell over (lesson not learned from last years transplanting late procrastination causing root bound plants). My soil mix is airy so they fell.

My drying area was stacked up full so I had nowhere to put the new drying plants so I was forced to leave them out and mother nature did the rest. Drying the first batch became complicated when the humidity went to 85% because of the mist/rain at the end of 10 days. I wasnt taking them down before they were dry.

At one point on the second day when I went out to see them the JB had mold in some of the buds (colas) so I mixed up a strong (2 teasp/gal) potassium bicarb spray and let it have it. It killed the mold and the buds too. The Ult chem got it prety bad too but nothing as bad as the JB and DWs. I am so glad the bottom half of the C 99 I left with the second batch was hard as a rock. Very little damage. THe Papaya and the CI x BB did not harden up and appear to have foxtailed themselves into oblivion, never forming hard buds. They both smell good and are a somewhat sticky but IMO not worth trimming. I am thinking hash/kief/oil. Not sure I like those strains for next year.

I am happy with the smoke so far and I have a ways to go until its all down and cured. I will get some pics up later in the week

Small update:

Have trimmed my way through BCK purple, C 99 top half, BA, and am currently trimming the HAOGK. I smoked some of the HAOGK after my friend that I gave a little nugget said it was dank. I took it down after a proper drying and smoked a joint with some friends. I took 3 hits and didnt leave my seat for a good 45 min. One guy, who was the DJ at the party, put the music on auto pilot for awhile. When I cut it, it reeked like skunk. THe buds were really dense and resinous. It may be my best this year and certainly is so far. THe others I have trimmed are very good tasting with some fruity flavors C 99 (lemony). The high is mellow but still does the trick. Still got a bunch to go so I better get back to it.

I started on the BCK 3 (pheno 3) also and it has a different smell and is more resinous than the BCK purple. I will run a smoke test along with my tester to see which is better and the differences.

What is interesting to me is that I was using the BCK purple as a seed plant. When the JB purple male was out, all the plants were in preflower so I have JB purple crossed with most everything. When the BCK purple female started flowering heavily I layed the JB male in the middle of the plant for maximum exposure. I got a few seeds but not what I expected. THe BCK 3 and BA especially, so far have more seeds than the BCK purple. I think the BCK purple was not at the right maturity stage (too ripe) at the time of pollination. I had to make sure the purple was going to stay as one of the plants had the purple fade out on it and then came back spotty in the end.

I really liked the JB purple male as it had trichs on the balls so that is always a good sign. I have had numerous reports on his JB so I am prety confident of its quality in both phenos.

Stay tuned for smoke and trim reports.

Hiya GT, Can't wait to try your purple. Have a friend who's looking for a solid strain purple to grow indoors. Mama and I are in Southern Humboldt at this time and I've picked up another couple strains of some supposed OG kush and Bubba. Looks like it may be the real deal and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope to see ya soon,
Hodgegrown and family

wow.... whateva happened bud?
Being lazy and still trimming slowly. Had a lot of loss this year to bud rot with the cloudy wet weather down here. I definately need a greenhouse so I can control the humidity and moisture. Since I planted late and made the plants rootbound in the 1 gal pots they mostly grew short (3-6 feet) as compared to last year. I also had a male too close to the plants before they flowered but I still got a bunch of seeds on some plants which is a pain when you are trimming.

I did get a chance to evaluate a bunch of strains though I am still in that process. To date the C-99 is a nice smoke; a creeper but stoney none the less. I left the bottom half of the plant out for 2 extra weeks which I am not sure yet which is better. The HAOGK so far is the most potent and stinkiest.

How are things going with you.
