Guerilla Q's: Area

I was wondering if there were certain things i could look for in land that would show whether or not the soil will be ok for growing.

I'm growing this time around guerilla style, and i'm not expecting a run for the cup sort of harvest. But i hope for the best i can get, as does every gardener.

Is there certain plants, or signs you can look for to see if the soil is fit for growing marijuana?

I know it's a weed, and most likely will grow in anything not a big pile of shit... but if i have to fields separated by trees, and one of those 2 will give me as little as a 3% better harvest, i'd like to know how to find that field.

All help and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Look for fields with thicker more leafy vegetation over just grasses. Grasses grow in anything. then just kick up some of the ground. Try to get the darker blacker areas as far as dirt goes. If your in the northern hemisphere, look right on the southern edge of tree lines. Get close enough to the trees to have to clear fallen leaves and they should grow great. Keep us posted and good luck.

I like to plant in fields with lots of small bushes and green plants surrounding my mj plants help them blind in.

The particular spot I'm looking at is actually in a wooden area... well, not necessarily. Not heavily wooden in this exact spot, it's actually rather clear. Lots of good sunlight, but then it has trees surrounding it... grasses, not too many bushes sadly. =( Loads of damn thorns and sticker vines, should deter pesky, unwanted, adventurous children hopefully. Right near a small river! =) but distant enough to where i think i'll be fine if it floods (unless we have record rainfall... but there isn't much you can do for that...)


The top layer of soil seems pretty good. it compacts if pushed together, but then crumbles... darker too. about 1/2 inch down though it goes into pretty much the consistency of clay; so i'm going to take the topsoil off around it, gather it into a spot, and grow in that.... should work pretty well. I've done it before.

About that before thing, we had a tree burn down in a field of grass, with lots of leaves... come back the next year after winter and the soil around that was amazing. to bad that hasn't happened out here.

Plant somehwere where no one goes. Also a place surrounded by natural "difficulties" so no one would think about going there.

by the way. What's the recommendation on how often to go visit your crop if you're guerrilla growing? Cuz i obviously don't want to draw unwanted attention, but I also don't want to let something develop into a problem for my plant(s) because i don't check it often enough.

What's the watering schedule like outdoors for the Midwest? because I'll probably only go around then. Hopefully that means every 4-5 days.

And Blackberry bushes, my favorite grow next to.

Grow next to swamps and wetlands, and you may never have to water. That's what I do, and I haven't watered in years. I can go a month without visiting my plants, if i have to. Just grow close to the water table.

In spring and mid summer I visit every 2 wks. Have a small creek in area so water not to bad to pack.Very lucky too find spot with water. The fewer times that you visit ur site , the less u will trample down the veg. and leave a trail. By mid summer , grasses and veg should help hide your trail. By Aug you will want to visit once a week, cause males will begin to show and must be removed, if u choose. U will have challenges but, can overcome them with good planning .LOL n Keep On Growin

Depends.. where I live the rivers in the country often have fertile banks and flood plains... Darker greens always growing there. I doubt you'd have to water.

Raspberry's and Blackberrys are two things to look for. If those are growing then you know the soil has the right nutrients in it, also they usually grow in a spot with good sunlight. I actually planted a pure indica and a pure sativa in a raspberry cluster, never fertalized them, never watered them except when i planted them, and they grew huge. the indica was topped at 7ft tall, about 5 ft wide, and the sativa was about 7 1/2 ft, and about 3ft wide.. i got pics.. i'll post them in an album soon.

Looks like you've got a decent spot, it doesn't take much to analyze soil properties and just by examining it you can tell if it is worthy or not, large annual plants that may grow in the same spot are great indicators as they are consumers of nitrogen, briar and stinging nettle patches are great, they're also easy to manicure around your plants, I usually leave the native flora in tact and just snip here and there to keep it back and make sure my girls dominant but have undergrowth for camouflage, helps conserve water also, exposing soil to the midday sun can dry it quickly so underlaying plants provide extra protection, I'm guerrilla too so I always use the local soil, got an eye for it now... It doesn't take a genious to recognize good soil, keep low key and hopefully you'll reap fat!!!!

Look for raspberrys..or blackberrys.. clusters of them growing.. because both rasp/blackberrys only grow in the right soil conditions, have plenty of nutrients in the soil.. and 99% of the time thier growing in a spot that gets good light. Also when planting anywhere.. its always good to airraid/loosen the soil abit so the roots move nicely through the ground. One more tip to remember if you want nice sized buds.. ALWAYS be sure that your spot recieves atleast 4 hours of direct sunlight otherwise your buds may not grow to thier fullest, and too your liking.. but do not exceed 6-7 hours..well atleast i would'nt because from experience..(when i put my plants at the edge of a valley opening that had recieved plenty hours.. me thinking that would be great.) Well it turned out not so great..*thumbsdown* ATLEAST 30% of each plant cooked.. I myself had never seen, or heard of that before then.. I always thought the more sun, the better.. but after a few years of experimenting(I'm turning 18 june4 incase anyone was wondering).. learning from my mistakes.. I actually found the plants with about 4-5hrs of sun.. and a few filtered/shaded hours.. the plants were twice as big.. and beautiful.. Either way, im ranting on.. i gotta go blaze sum BC..(not bcbud...its Blue Cheese) blueberry+cheese.. im not sure the seed company.. but its pretty decent weed.. not much blueberry smell.. its more of a tropical sorta smell.. with the deffinite cheese odour..lol.. its not grosee.. beleave me ..lol anyways i really hope some of this can help you, and anyone else reading.. sorry if u wasted ur time..OH!! lol 1more thing.. i got a couple pics of those plants i had in the rasps.. if anyone wants to see.. u gotta check my facebook.. for sum reason i cant upload.. but if u do.. send me a msg.. let me know and i'll add u .. or u add me.. their decent plants.. both of a minimal hieght of 6 1/2 feet.. one is a BEAST BUSH.. and i never fert/ or watered.. except once.. the day i put them in the ground... but long story short.. they grew amazing.. HUGE...... i came back 2 weeks b4 peak.. and some moron had ripped them both... but like "they" say...Lmao... whoever they are.. Yeah the key is finding a place where no one goes. I remember a few years back my Bro planted a few clones out near the edge of a forest we came back a month later and to our surprise the spot was crawling with atv'vers. We actually had to duck down once when someone went by. Then there was the other time when we planted 2 White widows plants on a guys kanola field by some trees, so none of his crop was within a hundred feet of the plants. We went out to fertilize the girls and sure as shit the farmer was cutting his field at that time, So we had to make our way to our car that was parked in the middle of some random ass gravel road.

be careful of fields, the bugs that live in and near fields are apt to do more damage to a plant and bugs your gonna find in the wooded area.
