This is more of the law against freedom of the people...
I own multiple guns. They are all loaded, all within reach, and all ready to go in case the SHTF. I'm also not growing, so I dunno how I feel about growing and guns.
I know that a lot of state compound laws so they can double and triple whammy you.
As to the sawed off shotgun question. If the barrel length is under 18" it's a felony to possess under federal law. With a barrel less than 18" it's considered a 'short barreled rifle.' To possess a SBR you have to have a class 3 license, if that class three license is not with the weapon then you are a felon under federal law.
As to keeping you're guns and ammo separate. You now have a very effective paper weight, locked in a safe, cable or trigger locked, unloaded, and absolutely worthless. Might as well wait for the cops to show up if you get broken into in the middle of the night. Oh wait, you have pot growing in your closet, don't call the cops.
If you're growing you are already committing a crime in most US states. In several cities where it's legal to grow it's illegal to possess a weapon at all. Go figure.
The ONLY weapon I have unloaded is a shotgun. Who here WOULDN'T run from the universally known sound of a shotgun being racked. If I hear my house alarm go off, that's the first sound the intruder is going to hear. If he doesn't leave the next sound is going to be the report of a .45 and he'll only hear it if I miss.
As far as committing crimes. I'll quote one of the grow manuals I read. "I say this because obviously people who grow marijuana are very concerned about laws."
I for one am an Anarchist to the point that I reject the rule of government completely. That which I can do legally, cool, that which I can't, screw it, their government their laws they burn in hell, oh wait that's something different.
There are over 2500 federal gun laws on the books, couple that with your state laws and find me anyone who knows what is always legal and what is always illegal.
The one thing a grower, a gun owner, or one who does both should have. Your lawyers card in your wallet and him on speed dial on every phone you have. Don't say anything until you've spoken to him.
If you're raided ... Well my advice is don't shoot the cops. Although I feel the argument is that they are suppressing your freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech by shutting down your grow. Isn't that what the second amendment is for?
