Hey everyone just wanted to warn everyone that has the grandfathered MMAR. I have been growing with the license in my home, which I thought was completely legal. The police raided my house and charged me. I also had my property seized. The police contacted my bank and insurer. The bank cut off my mortgage, and the house insurance was cancelled. After about two years in court I won the case but had to pay a $3500 fine. Basically what happened was my lawyer told me I was legally allowed to grow but not legally allowed to store the marijuana at my house. Just a warning to anyone out there still on the MMARs.

Consider yourself lucky to be living in Ontario. If you were here in the states, that lawyer of any magnitude would have cost you 20k at the minimum. Retaining a lawyer just to represent you in a case as such in the U.S. would be 10k. I'm not a lawyer but have gone through criminal court and my lawyer cost me 5k to retain. He wasn't a big-time lawyer. It's just what's in the picture. I didn't have a house to lose but you did. I fought to keep a Felony off my head and to avoid prison (at the same time defending my country in the military). In the end, 1 year of court, I paid over 17k and would have paid more IF, I could have afforded to retain my lawyer. I had to get a court-appointed attorney because the money ran out.
So look on the bright side (Thought it's hard to chew), you could have been in prison AND out of even more money.

I'm in Ontario as well; a few years back a licensed indoor grower had there grow space repaired and grew outdoors instead. A neighbour complained and they were given a week to take the plants down. Even blatantly outside their license conditions they were given an out. My outdoor had significant mold damage to one strain and i put out 8 yard waste bags of plant material. I got a call from the police telling me that next time i had cannabis to destroy, to do the mandated water and kitty litter disposal method. To be fair, i know that there are jurisdictions in Ontario that have absolutely no compassion but they are becoming few and far between. In my opinion, there's either more to your story or Quad Breath may be right.

The neighbors called the police on me since I was venting air outside from my grow room. I guess they smelled it? No it wasn't on the news. I have no reason to lie lol. Just giving a warning to everyone out the with MMARs. I switched to the ACMPR and contacted the police to let them know I am growing, to save myself another headache in the future. I apologize for using the word seized, the home was condemned not seized. Basically I had to move out of my own home until I remediated it, occupancy was not allowed.
I don't want to reveal my identity so I won't be showing any of that. The police told me they actually contacted Health Canada before they raided me to see if my license was expired.

That's horrible, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think it's ridiculous police resources are still wasted on going after marijuana growers in both the USA and Canada, or anywhere in the world for that matter.
What is there to lie about? The judge said I had no criminal intent by storing legally grown marijuana in my own home.
