Had to cut it... Will it hurt it?

:wall: Well I was inspecting my baby girl only to find I had a problem. It looked as if the stem was dying or was getting a disease… so I did what I thought was the smart thing to do and cut the section off. Then I just covered the stem with plastic. Now will this harm the rest of the plant?

Here is what it looked like, I figured I could dry it anyway.

- Agreed.
Btw I don't see a whole lot of fan leaves, you're not removing them are you?
Yeah I made a lot of mistakes and shocked the hell out of my girl but I now know on my next go around to "Leave things alone" lol other than lollie popping and scroging.

Some would say “experimenting” is the ultimate key… Growing is truly a “science”!

Despite the fact that is was unnecessary to remove the branch, it won't harm the rest of the plant. Sometimes less is more, i.e. don't over mother your plants and they'll do just fine.

Constantly experimenting is pointless. Much better to stick to the accumulated wisdom of the canna community and dial in the equipment, genetics and feed within a grow or two.

mk...so just a few tips... your plant is much too tall, the lights (which should only be flouros for vegging) should be about two to 4 inches off the top of the plant all through the veg cycle this will cause you to get the same amount of "plant" but it will all be tighter together and you wont have all that wasted space in between branches..basically im saying you can get the same amount of pot from a plant half that size. also, once a plant is that size its much harder to bend the stems in any way which causes breaks once the stem is that woody consistency you cant just bend it all over anymore...i had this happen one time and one time only it will never happen again!!! and guess what ..it hermied!! watch that plant close it will sneak some balls in and then your plant wont finish budding when it should it will take weeks longer using all its energy to make seeds, it will wind up a grassy nasty seedy mess and a lesson learned...TRUST ME next time closer lights will fix multiple issues, tighter nodes and younger more pliable plants in flowering = more bud in less space and no breaks!!

I'm experimenting so that I can find out what works best for me, not what's going to work best for someone else. And like I said before, it is a science, and even with science they may have a set way at doing things but yet and still...., "they experiment"...

O no I understand that, that is why I have gone out and picked up a 600 watt HPS for flowering and using my 150's for clone & veging. My next grow I am going to be doing a scrog grow so that I can get the max out of my plants and the best usage of my lights. I plan on building a flower room that will be 4x4x8.

nah thats cool bro, keep experimenting. I guess for some its a 'science' project, whilst for others its a business.

ya for sure a little experimentation is never bad as long as you give yourself maybe part of a for sure harvest...you dont want to lose the whole thing playing around but at the same time how do you get better just sticking to what ya no!! anyone who doesnt experimment a little and try to improve is settling and personally i want the best!..manish def a 600 will do the trick and scrog/lst are my personal favorite methods because i just dont like cutting or damaging the plant..honestly dont care if it will yield more i dont feel like that is the right thing to do..i cant see doing something detrimental to the plant as helpful and if something is controlling us people then id be pretty damn pissed if they made me fall and break my arm just to make it stronger later lol...sounds like u no what your doing tho didnt mean to throw obvious shit at you but just trying to help

I agree with the closer light looks like it stretched alot, also u can do alot to control ur plant since ur not growing outdoors, u can try out some diff things to help increase ur yield like topping, LST, supercropping. All sorts of diff things u can try out, just 2-4" might be a bit close if ur using an HID light, if its cfls 2-4" won't be a problem but HID get too hot to be that close.

ya def. thats why i said you really only need flouros for vegging. at least thats all i ever use, im sure an hid speeds things up a little bit but idk i just feel like its overkill...hids your looking at about a foot foot and a half away from the tops in flower.

constantly experimenting is never pointless. how do you think all of that accumulated wisdom got there?

It may have been some kind of infection but I think it was probably caused by the top being heavy. In the future support your plants with stakes or something before they start filling in.

I figure that the original growers use HID lights from start to finish so I just figuered I would do the same, but I will say that I am looking into building a T5 setup for my clones and use the 150 HPS' for veg and the 600 HPS for flower
