Hanging My Lights

the spare bedroom has become my grow room and it will need to revert back to being a bedroom. i have a 125w CFL in a reflector and is currently standing vertically. i really need to get it over the plants quickly easily and safely. the bedroom is on the top floor and has an angled ceiling for most of the room so i cant really hang from the ceiling. i'd considered balancing it on two level surfaces, chest of drawers maybe, but i'm wary of it falling.

please help!

Why is it vertical right now? Go buy some 1'' or 2'' pvc (depending on how sturdy you want it to be) from your local hardware store and make a base with a stand thats tall enough for your plants plus the light and chain/rope to hang it with. Maybe 15-20 bucks. Pvc is the shit Picture is crude but you get the point. Two 1'' pvc elbows or 90's, two 1'' pvc tees, four 1'' pvc caps, some 1'' pvc pipe, two hooks that you can screw in the pvc to hang the light, and two pieces of chain. You really wouldnt have to even glue the pvc together. Tada.. Portable light stand. Good luck.

What you can do is set up yo-yo light hangers, like this: http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-Steel-Wire-High-Low-Reflector-Hangers.asp from your ceiling. You can balance out the light with these.

Just cause ur ceiling is not level does not mean you can't hang your lights from it go buy 4 eye hooks from home depot the ones with round end put those in the ceiling and hang 4 long chains from them with little (S) hooks and that way you can adjust all 4 corners of your lights and make it level. The chain and eye hooks can be very small as each one only would need to support 1-4th the total weight of the light. This is how I hang my lights works good for my set up. Best of luck too you

If you do screw directly into the ceiling, you should try to hit a joist to ensure maximum support. I wouldn't trust the screws only screwed into the drywall. If you don't want holes in your ceiling, use the pvc like suggested, or you could also use 2x2 or other similar light duty lumber. Get creative with it.
