when I calibrate ph, first goes 7.01 pH and it goes well.
then I put the pen in 4.01 solution and it goes into WRNG

any ideas how to fix it?
I tried googling but no good finds :/

Take the pen look at ur probe is it dirty look and the reference junction my hanna pen came with a removable eXtra junction incase the one got dirty.. if not then get a cup put ur ph pen in the cup cap off lol soak it in hanna ph calibration 7.01 for at least 45 min personally I would do it over night works better IMo during this time find out if ur pen is 1 point or 2 point calibration the ph 4.01 might be unnecessary if so don't Descard.. 3 drops in ur cap will do the same as the storage solution and keep it properly moist for when not in use/in between use.k now it's been 45 min or if ur patient over night .. take your pen rinsee it quickly with Luke! ! Warm water 2 seconds k and then get a new cup with new ph 7.01 in it calibrate wait til it stabilizes stir the pen.If there is a 2 point calibration for ur pen then now follow step again but with 4.01 solution calibration Then turn the pen off. Wait turn back on and rinse it off Luke warm water.. test it does ur 7.01 solution read 7 on ur pen ..does it read 4.01 correctly ?? Remember some pens may only be accurate within 0.2 pH .. keep the thing moist and clean always !

wow! thanks for the feedback!
yes, the probe is definitely covered with a layer of dirt.

The pen is set for two step calibration. I'm only concerned, because when I put it in 4.01 it displays 4.40 & it takes a long time to establish that.

I need to make sure the water ph = 5.8, so you see why I have concern

thanks for the tip
I'll try cleaning it off, hope this will help
