hanna trimeter ph question

I have a hanna tri meter,when i try to test ph with it, it slowly rises for about 2-3 minutes till it finally settles.... is this normal? is it time for a new sensor tip on the unit?

I have the Hanna Grow Check PH/temp/ PPM and you should calibrate it every month or so also make sure you dont leave your probe out to dry put it in a cup of water when you arent using it. Once the probe goes bad you have to buy a new probe ( for the grow check) what model is yours? When you buy the PH Calibration liquid make sure to buy the 7.0 not the 4.0

IMO get em both and itll be more exct. theres even cleaning solutions as well which are rad. they cal and clean. check em out.

Go old school and stick with an instant guaranteed result, by using strips and drops. Works great and never needs calibration.

I just returned my Hanna tri meter because of its inability to stabilize.

I agree. I have the 98129 combo model. I try to cal. about every 2 weeks or so. You will have to maintain the probe of any ph sensor as they will wear out. I use a cleaning solution, storage solution, 7 & 4 cal. solutions. The probe is porous glass with a metal conductor surrounded with a internal solution. Ph stands for potential hydrogen, the probe determines ph by measuring this ionic exchange. Thats why it's important not to let them dry out or store them in ro especially if it's deionized. This water will leach the life right out of your meter and give you poor performance. Sounds to me like yours would benefit from a good cleaning and 2 point cal. Or you can try to guess the color of strips and drip tests.
