harvest idea good or bad?

I will try with 1 no matter what lol. But I have had good success with the darkness before harvest but never stretched it out over a week. ( I have kept 8 week old veg plants indoors in the dark for 5 days and I come back and they are covered in crystal.

I read something similar this lady cut the plant as a whole after some time in complete darkness and hung them till

They say it taste fantastic has to do with the even water loss it makes sense. With my main lines off a single node it's easy to cut and hang them.

as the purpose is to dry slowly it will take more than a week ! but it's the way to go

So that you end their life cycle then, instead of stressing the shit out of them for a week?
I like what you're trying to do, I live in an area where weed is dry in 3 days and I try to stretch that out as long as possible. I just think pulling your plant indoors and sticking it in the dark for a week is unneeded stress on the plant and could potentially cause a plant to hermie, if it has that trait.
Which might not be a big deal since its so close to harvest but still...

I am almost considering watering them in Tha dark. Why do you think it will be stressful? I see it as a prolonged death and nothing more. It's not fancy or complex.

Have you ever left even larger stems on before? It makes the dry time take A LOT longer. I could only imagine how long it would take to dry with the main stalk and root ball still in dirt.
I have experimented with several different methods, but since I like a well manicured, leafless bud, I trim right after chop while everything is still kind of stiff. I have left them to dry naturally several times and it was a major pain in the ass removing all the wilted and sunk down leaves. If you dont mind the leaves, go for it. I didnt really notice much of a difference in bud quality or taste though.

I'm not a believer in the whole 24-72 hr of darkness school of thought. I'm not sure if it would be that stressful but a week of darkness is not natural at all. When you deprive a plant of light it stops producing Chlorprophyll, will lose its green color and eventually die. That's what I think would be stressful, slowly killing the plant.
Also if you leave it on the plant to dry, the plant will continue to ripen. So say you think the plant is ready, you cut the lights for a week but don't harvest the plant, it could potentially go past maturity and start to degrade in the week you have it in the dark. I could see harvest dates turning into a guessing game.
I tried harvesting with wet soil rather than letting it dry out to see if that increases my dry time, I'll know how that worked out this weekend.

So the thing I think you're not seeing the same as me is the plant IS GOING TO die. Regardless. The ripening is still a concern to me because I think it will do exactly what you think. The darkness I am convinced has a very positive effect, not sure if it's past 24 hours though.

I could see 2 months easy with proper care. I was thinking trim the whole thing, while leaving it in the pot. So best of both worlds? No leaf and best taste? It's bouncy at best....
