i am growing 6 plants right now and they are about a foot tall. They can get about 4 feet maybe a tid bit more but a shelf is at 56 inches above the soil. When should i flower them so they dont get too tall. I am hoping to get atleast 2 oz a plant. about how tall do they need to be to get that. this is my first grow so all advice will be useful.

growing tall and not real bushy tells me there sativa or sativa domonant. and most bagseed is sativa domonant so start flowering tonight 12/12 with total darkness. but indicas will grow tall and thin if they don't have good light so the decision is yours

what kinda light you using..soil..hydro,,ebb,?nutes... are u phing..all these things come into play..Your plant grows as you do this...So do you..If your first time grower,,,I'd nominate you for grower of the year if you can get 2 off a plant

you need some hid in there if there gonna flower dence and heavy. under my 1000 w hps if i veg for 4 weeks ill get an avg of 2 oz of nice and dence bud
and i guess your right major nuggs i was looking at your harvest and you got an average of like 34g a plant so a little more then a oz each. How tall were yours when you flowered and what strain was that. as after this grow i wanna buy some seeds and i dont know what strain to get id like a high yielder who is still potent and is easy to grow
i dont know if i wanna go hps because its only 56 inches from the top of the pot to the highest the light could be and its in a closet and hid lights get pretty hot. and burn lots more electricity im an electrician and i could easily get a hold of the bulbs as i install them all the time but i dont think it is the right setup for me

see thats my prob..... or sort of. you could try a cheap cool tube and vent like crazy. how big is your space and how many plants? a 400w might just be right for you. or with a little creativity 2 400s or 2 250s and then you might just be able to get the yield you want. just gotta keep those lights cool. the cooler the closer they can be. my 2 oz plants are soil and about 36 inches tall mabye a little more.
its in a closet. i am using the other half of the closet to store my clothes in but the half i grow in is 3 feet from the wall to the edge of the last pot and is like 30 inches wide so its almost 3x3. i just saw i can take the shelf out i got the lights hanging from now. then to the cieling from the soil it is about 76 inches. but my main concern is the heat and a fire hazard. u gotta keep an hps like a foot away from the plants right? and i dont wanna put it too close to a wall or the ceiling.

Take a look at a stealth cab i built and put a 600w "aircooled" hps and kept my temps nice..Check out my gallery..

yeah man you could put a 600 in there no prob and grow over a half pound if done right
