And sorry to hijack your thread since it wasnt about flushing. I would wait another week to harvest personally.
Will do, I was worried when they started showing early if that was signs of an issue. I originally planned on waiting till at least day 56but will go 7-10 days based on what you guys say... I will update in a couple days with the digital microscope to show more pics... Like I said this is my first time so worried about messing it up in the final stage. I am reading up now on how to harvest and what's the best way to dry/cure... I bought amber colored 32 ouch Mason jars and plan on cutting down the plant and hanging it upside down.... Any ideas would.be awesomeLookin good. You are early in the harvest window, i'd go another week to 10 days.
That's the first step.plan on cutting down the plant and hanging it upside down.... Any ideas would.be awesome
Ok I need to get something to measure the humidity in the jars to get right. Anyone have anything that wokrs for them? That's the first step.
Cure means nothing if you don't dry the plant properly. This is what has worked for me my last 3 harvests.
Hang dry entire plant for 5-7 days
Dry trim (to your liking) and remove buds from plants
Put buds into brown paper bags (no more than 3-4 inches of bud in each paper bag)
Dry buds in paper bags for 5-7 days (opening twice per day and giving the bag a good shake)
This process takes 10-14 days total.
After this, take your buds and put them into containers/jars/bags (i use glass jars). Monitor the RH of the jars and don't let it get above 70%. If dried correctly, this process shouldn't be a problem. If the RH% gets above 70%, remove all the buds from the jars and leave out for a few hours. Open the jars 1-2 times per day to "burp" them. This process takes 1-3 weeks, depending on your preference. Your looking for an RH% anywhere between 55-65%. 55% and it cannot "cure" any longer. The buds will be a bit dry at this point. 65% and the buds will have a more fresh, sticky feeling. Depending on your preference, you can decide what you want.
This process takes 14-21 days total.
I feel like the weed burns much better around 50-55% RH.
Ok didn't know it would take that long to dry hanging upside down. My tent will be at a solid 65-68 degrees without the light and nothing running but the carbon filter exhaust I have. Humidity is at 50-60ish with a small dehumidifier in there. I read no fans in the tent as it will dry it out to fast right? Can the dehumidifier be in there? It does generate some heat but not much.I didn't read through everything but I could tell that the member who helped you with the curing knows what he's talking about. I've been at this for a couple decades and I will tell you this you want to hang the plants upside down and let them dry that way it should take a couple of weeks at least you want the humidity around 50% you want the temperature around 60 if you can get it there and you wanted to be dark it can be warmer and it can be more humid it will just change the way it dries more humidity will make it dry slower more heat will actually make it dry quicker which is not a good thing. And if the humidity is too high it might not dry at all. My plants usually take about 30 days till they snap and all the buds are ready that gives him a little cure time as well. But there's two stages there's drying and curing you want to do your drying before you get to the jars for the most part. Once you put them in the jars they're there for the curing process which might be say the second 30 days. And you burp the jars every 4-5 days just to make sure if there's any moisture in there you get it out get some fresh air in but I can guarantee you if you put wet but in those jars no end up with mold something that you don't like . like a moldy smell
ive done both. im firm with flushing. not flushing the buds look the same but the smoke is different. it burns black and not white like cigg ashes. it tastes harsher. and it does pop and spark. if you ever light your lighter next your bowl and theres a magical spark in the bud. thats the phosphorous. the hayish harsh taste is the nitrogen. a good ppm would be between what 150ppm and 400ppm. your runoff at start should be in the 1000s. i hang upside down for 8 to 12 days. depending on climate that week. start first 2 days at 60% and drop it 5% every 2 days until its ready. keep it dark and cool. some air flowing but not directly on the buds. slower dry is the best. dont waste months of growing to a quick dry. i only trim off the giant fan leafs before hanging. leave the sugar leafs and smaller fan leafs on to protect the nugs. theyll wrap around the buds like blankets. when they are dry. trimming is a synch. if you ever see say mite or mold damage dont dry that way. cut the mold/mite damage out if its manageable then hang it. people say i wouldnt ever smoke that... theyd be surprised what they smoked before legalization and testing was done. as long as the yeast isnt over a certain ppm to 5grams of nug it wont hurt you. i think its like 10,000ppm for a fail in my state.I do believe that flushing works I don't believe you have to buy any special products water works fine. If you're talking about no-till gardening total Organics I've heard that a flush is unnecessary and I kind of believe that because I don't think you can ever really flush out everything in time. But if you're using bottles of nutrients which I like to refer to as chemical Organics not true Organics I can assure you that flushing out will leave you with a much better taste and finish sometimes if you don't flush the bud will even crack and pop when you smoke it depending on how bad the residues are. There's no question you could Harvest that plant if you wanted to. But it is a little young you want to wait till they're not just milky but still some of them have a little color. A little Amber. The flavor profile will get better if you let it age up a little usually and also the high will change. If you harvest a plant early and smoke it and then let it go for another say 10 to 14 days and then smoke that you'll not only notice a difference in the flavor being more refined but the high as well. Considering that everybody's taste so different I couldn't tell you which one you like better but I could take a guess that it would be the ladder letting it go further gardening
My run off like 2 weeks ago was like 2100 then went to 1500 the next week, then it was 1000 when I sledgehammered it yesterday with about a 4 gallon flush.. I only put bembe (fox farm)in it the last 2 waters as the ppm seemed highive done both. im firm with flushing. not flushing the buds look the same but the smoke is different. it burns black and not white like cigg ashes. it tastes harsher. and it does pop and spark. if you ever light your lighter next your bowl and theres a magical spark in the bud. thats the phosphorous. the hayish harsh taste is the nitrogen. a good ppm would be between what 150ppm and 400ppm. your runoff at start should be in the 1000s. i hang upside down for 8 to 12 days. depending on climate that week. start first 2 days at 60% and drop it 5% every 2 days until its ready. keep it dark and cool. some air flowing but not directly on the buds. slower dry is the best. dont waste months of growing to a quick dry. i only trim off the giant fan leafs before hanging. leave the sugar leafs and smaller fan leafs on to protect the nugs. theyll wrap around the buds like blankets. when they are dry. trimming is a synch. if you ever see say mite or mold damage dont dry that way. cut the mold/mite damage out if its manageable then hang it. people say i wouldnt ever smoke that... theyd be surprised what they smoked before legalization and testing was done. as long as the yeast isnt over a certain ppm to 5grams of nug it wont hurt you. i think its like 10,000ppm for a fail in my state.
