Hi Guys, Well, its been almost 7 to 8 week of flowering, looking for the signs of harvest, so far, I wasn't able to see too much amber or even cloudy thricomes but most of the pistils turned red/brown. I've got some macro photos of the plants that I think is ready to harvest, could you give some advice? Thank You!

Quite hard to say without specifics such as plant strain or light set up but not looking there for me yet mate.

As a P.S. I stopped looking for harvest time based on Pistils after my first grow and the quality of my bud has thanked me for it.
Jewelers Loupe was the best (and cheapest) purchase i think i made in the early days.

She looks ready. Once the hairs are 80% brown shes ready to come to down. of course you could push it a few extra days if you like.

First off, you never use the color of the pistils to determine if your plants are done! As mike suggested go out and buy a jewellers loupe to look at your trics up close as this is the only definitive way of ensuring your crop is ready for the chop. Optimally you want to harvest just as you start to see Amber trics as this is when the plant is at its peak flowering time(meaning it has the highest content of thc it will achieve) and this varies for EVERY strain. Hope this helps, best of luck to you.

Erm. Sorry to disagree but just no.
Pistils being brown can indicate anything and nothing.
Once had all my pistils turn brown. . . . 13 days into flowering. 2 days later the girl started growing new ones and put on a nice bit of weight.
Once had all my pistils turn brown. . . . when the temp outside reached Ridiculous levels for where i live, my fans couldnt cope and my plants got heat stress.
Once had all my pistils turn brown. . . . turns out it was just the strain.
Once had all my pistils turn brown. . . . And i still dont know why.

Pistils are simply for collecting pollen, which of course we don't want to Know about unless were aiming for seeds.

Trichomes Pack themselves full of lovely, lovely mind-bending, body healing cannabinoids and even change colour for you when there full!

Personally (and many many people would agree) I reckon its just a no brainer.

Let me tell you the whole story.

This is my first time grow, so rather than risking my white widow seeds, I decided to go for some mediocre bag seeds, so the strain is unknown, but I would say probably an indica stain. The strain isn't something special but they are very resilient. Its been a very interesting grow, had lots of problems but I was lucky to get 16 females out of 21 plants.

I have a x10 loupe and x100 hand microscope, when I check them under the loupe, its not easily distinguishable, with hand microscope I can see the tricomes well, but the problem is, its really hard to navigate using that and it makes it hard to check the whole plant thoroughly. And I can't really distinguish between cloudy and clear tricomes.

I had the same problem with that hand held microscope... this has worked great for me.. and under $5

Lemonogkush posted a good product (if its the one im thinking of.)

Sorry I cant be of more help, I will say that from the limited perspective I have here that you should have a while to go yet.
Worst case scenario, i mean if you start to panic that you have left them too long. Then you could always sample snip a bud.
Having it on a flat firm surface would help with your loupe troubles.
Then if you see Any amber then chop.

Sorry for lack of help again.

It doesnt appear my link is working above so here it is again.

When you do cut, make sure to cut right before the lamp comes on so the plant uses all its starch accumulated from the day before.

I can't tell if they're ready by your pictures though.

Looks to me that your trichs are still mostly clear, give it some more time, maybe a week but keep an eye on them, it might be sooner, and def don't go by the pistles.

looks pretty uneven to me.

Some are frosty and some are a little light on trichs.

Since its just bagseed , i would say chop it and cure it and pop that new seed and use the lessons you learned growing that bagseed out.

Worst thing that happens is you get high instead of stoned , lol

Win / Win
