So does that mean swollen calyxes are always a telltale of the specific phenos ripeness?
I've always checked when to harvest by my trichomes, but some people suggest the condition of calyxes is a better way to tell.
What's everyones opinion on this? And how would one tell if the plant is ready via calyxes?

Well I usually look at the whole bud(flower) for harvest. When I see pistils turning color from white, I would look at trichomes. If my trichomes aren't mostly milky/ cloudy, I would wait. Usually during this ripening my calyxes swell normally. The pistils are just an indicator for me to look at trichomes. I careless if all my pistils are brown, pink, red, amber, when I harvest because when drying they all will become dry and change color .I've always checked when to harvest by my trichomes, but some people suggest the condition of calyxes is a better way to tell.
