Harvest time

My plants are about 5 weeks into flowering. They seem like they are real close to being done but most things I have read say it take any were form 8-10 weeks for a plant to finish flowering. Can it take less time than that. I don't have one of those microscope things to use to determine when they are ready. So I am just going to have to wing it so any advice would be appreciated

I doubt you'll be ready for chop this early. Checking trichomes with a microscope won't tell you anything at this point, let them go longer.

I hadn't planned to pick them just yet but was thinkin that they might be ready in another week or so. I'm new to this so I am unsure about how to look at them and tell they are ready. I know the hairs on the buds have already started turning red and someone told me that they have about a week to two after this happens and they are done. Is that true? Any info is helpful. Thanks

So, dreamy is that a picture of your past-time hobby (elephant)? Hey, cwv - this might work better for you, if your not willing to wait out the time, just pick and clip each week, to determine your taste and high.

Some leafs have started to yellow and die but the marjority are still green. The hairs are mostly long and clear/white some are just starting to turn red. I don't have a way to post pic right now but hopefully I will shortly. They aren't autos. Nut really sure what the strain is. Something my cousin in Germany grows.

So your saying that u can cut and cure pieces off the same plant at different times and get different highs and tastes? If this us true when would you start? Still got to be a early and a late to the process

It still sounds like they aren't near ready yet. Pictures would help, but I'm stickin to my guns just the same.

Not ready yet if the majority of hairs are white. Wait until the majority are red and have receded into the swelling calyx's.

If the plant is a 10 week strain then it can sometimes finish in 8 week if all the conditions are perfect, but if the airs on the plant changed coulour realy early during flowering then it is normaly down to a misstake done by the grower. If you have a few weeks left till the plant become 8 week then leave her she will just gain more crystals and it is in the last few weeks that the plant gets the smell that we all love so much.Check to see if any of the leaves are yellowing if so this is a good sign, but i would never take any cannabis strain down under 8 week unless there is some reason for me to have to most grower's will get what i'm getting at sometime's you have no option then to chop her down and hang her.The buds will get more compact and more thc will be formed after week 5 of flowering so let her be she will chuck you some pukka tings.........tyke..........................................

I hope I didn't mess anything up but seeing as how I am s newb it is possible. I grew so seeds my cous sent me so if I did mess something up it would be like messing up a crop of kush or something expensive like that. As far as I know they are doing well. I got 3 plants and they are all about 4ft tall and have a considerable amout of bud on them at 5 weeks. I just haven't ever gone through a grow cycle so I am not sure as to when they will need to be picked. My next grow will be super lemon haze, og kush #18, and ghs white widow. Hopefull by then I will be able to post some pics. Thanks for all the advice. Sure I wll need more in the future.

Well I went and Got one of those mini microscopes to check the trichomes with and want to make sure I get this right. They say when they get milky is when you should pick them so my question is do they all turn thus color at the same time, or do some buds on the same plant turn at different time and should be picked accordingly? Once they have turned this color how long do you have to pick them?
