Harvest Time?!

Hello!

I am on day #51 in the flowering process of my NL. The breeder recommends a 50-55 day period for flowering. I also bought an illuminated microscope to check out the trichomes. I have two plants.. One plant has milky white trichomes with a couple amber heads... only 1 or 2 tho. The second plant is clearish/milky.

Would you recommend harvesting tomorrow? I was planning on introducing more than 12 hours (roughly 18) of darkness after the light turns off to get all of those starches/sugars into the root system for a better smoke.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

DO YOU HAVE ANY PICS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE BREEDER MAY RECOMEND MY ADVISE IS TO GO BY THE TRICHS AND SO PEOPLE LIKE NO AMBER ONLY OPAQUE TRICHS WHILE OTHERS LIKE TO SEE A LOT OF AMBER SO KIND OF COMES DOWN TO A PREFERENCE THING BUT IF THEY ARE SHOWING ALL MILKY AND A FEW AMBER SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD GO NOW BUT AGAIN ITS THE FARMERS PREFERENCE

By letting the plants go a little longer you're ensuring that they've plumped as much as they're going to.
Despite popular opinion to the contrary(and don't fool yourself, the jury is still out on this one) Recent studies have shown ;contrary to what was previously believed, that THC itself (And its predecessor THC-A) are quite guilty of causing the confusion and drowsiness associated with burnout and other cannabinoids (our friend CBN, and a handful of others) to be the catalyst (along with THC) to being 'high' rather than 'baked'
Regardless, whether or not there's any substance to the aforementioned study, its easy to get the high you want.
If you want a soaring 'cerebral' high: Get yourself a tropical sativa that contains a high level of THC-V and grow it until it is ripe.
If you want the narcotic couch-lock stone, grow a rugged indica until its ripe.
Notice a pattern of growing it until its ripe? Its a really good rule to live by.
OF course we have to remember that there is more to a good high than just THC. At last count there are at least 66 cannabinoids, and we don't know what most of them do.


Now a lot of people will tell you that you should harvest based on the color of your trichomes. But (again, in my opinion) that is far too simplistic and there are too many variables to make that an effective strategy. I've made that point a million times before and i'm not going to re-hash it here,(maybe just a bit) but rest assured there is more to the picture than just trich color.


A ripe marijuana plant will be filled in, will have an amber tinge to the buds. The pistils should have browned (or orange-d) off and receded into the buds. The seed bracts should be swollen and the trichomes should be sticking straight out with bulbous ends. Also, because you're coming close to the end of plant's life cycle, the leaves should have yellowed off and started to die.

In my experience it's very rare for a plant to be ready before day 70. We really need pics to be able to asses bro.

The leaves are dying quick.... the plant still has white hairs, though. It's hard for me to judge the trichomes. I know the difference between amber and milky but it's tough for me to distinguish between clear and milky... I'm having some trouble with that.

By saying flowering day 51, do you mean day 51 since the seedling pops out, or 51days after it starts flowering?

Yea not quite ready Freddy! Something you will learn is that breeders always want to advertise fast finishing strains, but they never actually finish that fast. The earliest i've ever harvested a finished plant is 65 days and it easily could have gone another week.

General rule of thumb is chop when mostly milky with few amber depends how you like your stone really I like all milky with anout 10% amber...and I chop before the lights are suppose to come on....so they just get 12 hr darkness no need for 1-3 days dark period it doesn't happen naturally so fuck it I say ;)....happy chopping bro your gonna love your 1st harvest

Im concerned because I already prepped the plants for harvest for this weekend. I did a flush two weeks ago and then one on Wed (in preparation for a weekend harvest)

Would it be a bad idea to apply nutrients again for the last time? Or should I just continue with plain water?
