That sounds fine... you're trying to dry the buds out now, right?
What I have always done is put the colas out on newspapers or hung them up inside a cardboard box, in the dark. You could put a light breeze on them from a fan but you don't really have to. Dry them slowly for best flavor, over the course of several days up to a week. Once they feel dry on the outside and the larger stems nearly snap when bent; I do some more cutting (mostly just to rid of stems and remaining leaf) and transfer the nuggets into glass jars. Tighten the lid for a day, remove it the next day and just cover with a paper lunch bag for up to 12 hours. Cover again with the lid tightened for another day to a few days, remove the lid and use the paper bag for several more hours. Repeating this process and fine tuning as necessary until the buds are almost totally dry or to your desired moisture level. Eventually I am just leaving the lid loose with the paper bag over it until it feels, smells and smokes as perfect as possible.
There is still a lot going on inside of the cells of herb that has just been chopped. Throughout this process, certain compounds are being metabolized (mainly chlorophyll) while remaining moisture is being transferred from the inside of the buds, to the outside. You allow some of the moisture to steadily dissipate by leaving the cover open, and remaining moisture diffuses back and forth until reaching an equilibrium. You don't want to leave bud that is too moist sealed up for long periods of time as mold will almost inevitably develop. Drying also converts the THC into its psychoactive form. Wet bud isn't as potent as it could be, and obviously wont burn very will. You don't want to dry your buds too quickly or several compounds including the chlorophyll don't break down properly; the smoke is harsh and the burn characteristic wont be ideal. I don't like my buds entirely dry either, because then they will burn too fast and the smoke is harsher.
