Harvesting advice

I just recently made the chop 9 days ago. Stems are still not cracking when I bend them so they still need more drying time. The thing I've noticed is that when I cut a bud off of the hanging plant it smells and taste amazing....I put a couple small buds in a jar and watched the humidity not get over 60 percent overnight. When I smoked it today it doesn't taste or smell nearly as pungent as the bud from the hanging plant still in the drying room. Any advice or thoughts?

Yes. Let dry fully. Then jar properly. The hay taste is because chlorophyll hasn't totally broken down.

That's what I thought. I just dont understand why it taste better and smells better while it's still drying. I would think that it would still taste like chlorophyll while drying on the rack vs being jarred.

Well you just found that out unless I misread your post. You're experiencing what everyone else has experienced.

Makes you not want to put it in a jar doesn't it? I would put some in a jar and some in a carboard box and see which one turns out better. I usually use my 1 gallon jars and fill them half full or so with a nice air space above the weed. A lot of weed does seem to lose smell. The keepers will keep their smell pretty good.

It's the craziest thing...I literally smoked a joint from jarred weed that's been jarred for only 10 hrs, taste real green and chlorophyll like. I then smoked a joint from a freshly picked bud from a hanging plant that's been hanging for 10 days and its straight fire!....I'm afraid to jar my weed. I'm afraid its gonna end up like shit and this isn't the first time this has happened.... what gives?
