see but i don't know if i would do either of those. There's nothing wrong with putting them in a paper bag. Its the same as putting them in a shoe box.
Try out both ways when you get your first harvest.hang to dry and then cure in jars man!its the best way....peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats what i'm doing thanks!!!!!!!hang to dry and then cure in jars man!its the best way....peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm in the procees of hanging for four days now, stims still bending not snapping yet.Try out both ways when you get your first harvest.
thanks for all the advice mateI use CFLs and tend to have fluffy buds. I hang-dry in a dark place with a fan (my grow box with lights off) for around 4 days (depends on the strain). I am never patient enough to wait 30 days without smoking some of it, but if you cure for 30+ days, the smoke tends to be more expansive and tasty. For example, I never cared for smoke coming out of my nose (allergies), but with a tasty strain it seems to happen naturally and enhances the experience. Also, I think it is important to open the curing jars at least once per day during the first week of curing. I could tell that the buds were still a little moist and I am terrified of mold. Basically, I read all of this stuff on RUI, grew some shit, tried the curing methods, and it worked. Crazy, huh?
right on thanks BarrelhseThe purpose of the paper bag is to slow down the drying a little, that's all. Use an unbleached brown shopping bag to avoid chemicals or bad flavor. Shouldn't really make a lot of diff if you use a bag or not. I like to make sure it doesn't dry out too fast and get harsh. Bottom line: jar it when the stems snap.
right on man, thats kind of what i doi do it before curing but thats just cause i start dippin into the jars before its done
it's still all smokable, i say go for iti have dried for 3-5 days and cured for 2 and cant complain. do the trichomes change color during curing or it only happens during growth. i have harvested early all the bottom buds that light as trouble gettin to. i gotta admid the bud aint ready but i want better growth for the higher colas. i still cant complain cause i got a good balance right now on high. i would say 80 percent head and 20 percent body high. also smaoked the bubblehash along with the sampling. gotta say, here goes another weekend of gettin really high. still got a little chemical taste but doesnt matter cause its not the weed that is officially ready. still sold a little though. feels good tro get a little on the investment.
yeah i'm definitly trying to dry long enough, just not to long cause i don't want dust....lolforgot to mention...cfl grow was the fastest drying and cure. hps grow a little longer but with seriously small buds. my friend that hooked me up with the diesel and blackjack i got had his real moist. kinda hard to smoke and not very flavorful. needed longer drying. i know for sure with the hps grow ill need to dry for at least 7-10 days. the density is awesome.
yeah i don't think i will ever do the bag techniqueRE: "PAPER BAG METHOD"
I know I'm a little late to the discussion here, but I figure I'd throw my two cents in regarding the paper bag method...
I saw this mentioned on another forum about 3-4 years ago and tried it with a couple of grows. The first time using the paper bag method, I had no problems. Bud was dried, nothing too great regarding taste and smell, but all in all, it was OK; i.e. the bag did its job. The second and LAST time I tried the paper bag method--OH MY GOD....
Now, I understand the theory of the bag method: the paper is supposed to absorb the moisture and aid in drying. Maybe it's where I live....but DAMN! The last time I tried this, less than a day after I placed the bud in the bags, I had sticky white mold all over! It hurt me so bad to throw the whole damn thing away, but that's what I did. I wanna throw up every time I think about it....
I speak for myself only....I mean no disrespect to anyone who has been successful with paper bags or paper towels between dried buds... But to be on the safe side, I will only hang up buds from now on during drying--especially the initial stages of drying. The better airflow around all parts of the flower just make me feel better about keeping mold away. Having buds lying on its side or jammed up against other buds, in my part of the world at least, is a little too dangerous. Not worth it....
right on!!!!fuck the brown bags no need for em they complicate stuff????
oh yeah most of the NL is about goneStoney! What the hell? I figured the NL has been smoked by now I dont know if u remeber my AK harvest? I trim, hang, then place a dark towel over the smoke, not touchin it, just lightly coverin, so no light gets in. I keep it in my flower room, so the himidity is @ 45. 3- 3 1/2 days later, JARS! I use big ass jars to. Not Masons, but Apothacary jars. I dont like burpin 40 jars a day. I just found a Blue Mystic jar the other yesterday, MOLD. Must be 8 months old. Dont think I ever burped it. It got pushed wayyyy back in my cupboard.
Oh, I dont weigh mine jus smoke it...
