I've been having bad arthritis in my hands for a while since I'm on my computer a lot and I was wondering how hard it is to get a card for arthritis. I haven't been to a doctor, so would they just recommend me pills or how would I go about it? I know I have to have a doctor notice for the arthritis, would I just send that to Santa Fe?

If it's for arthritis pain you'll need 2 signatures, one from a pain management specialist and one from your normal doctor. The forms are on the New Mexico Dept of Health website, you can print them out at a public library if you don't have a printer. Before the pain mgmt specialist CAN recommend cannabis for you, you must first exhaust all other pharmecutical options. New Mexico has some of the strictest rules for medical cannabis, and a 6 monthish backlog of applications waiting to be processed. Have fun with them opiates and nsaids.

And... it's not just arthritis. You have to be diagnosed with inflammatory autoimmune-mediated arthritis to qualify. Good luck.

Don't get discouraged. It's just a blanket term that covers several forms of arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis. Just make sure that when you get the doctor recommend that they write it as inflammatory autoimmune-mediated arthritis. Unfortunately the Texas Bitch governor of ours is doing all that she can to sabotage the MM law and they want us to dot every i and cross every t. They find the stupidest reasons to reject applications. I go through a doctor and organization in Aztec to renew my card. It's a little expensive (about 200 bucks) but It's hassle free and they make sure everything is correct before you submit it.

I wish I could help you there but I haven't a clue. Most of them are either in Albuquerque or Santa Fe.
Hey guys, just wanna jump in. I agree with Carne, DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. Many people easily qualify, especially for arthritis. I agree, that the doctor will have to write it up a certain way but since arthritis is directly related to auto-immune disorders you shouldn't have an issue. As far as doctors go...agreed most of them are in the ABQ/SF metro area, HOWEVER, I know that there are some doctors in LC area. You just have to look...google and forums are your best friend at this point. And raviel, it's never better 'getting it off the street'. Although the prices are comparable, I like knowing where my product comes from directly and being able to stay LEGAL.

Dr. Poe is connected with New Mexico Green Light. He can give you a recommend if you qualify and refer you to a specialist if it's required. The doctor I went to for my initial recommend was in Santa Fe. New Mexico Green Light was not in business then. I tried them for the first time last year and I was very pleased with the results.
