Have I been caught out by Mag def again??!!!!

I've been growing for over a year, but butchered my current grow under a 400w. Think I took on too many variables at once, bigger light, new soil, new strain, and new nutes all at once.

I have been cautious with feeding, so expected a little def here and there but this is offensive. The lower leaves are dieing and groing brown and dry, but taking ages to drop off (the ones in the pics were plucked off), and higher up the leaves are pale, and yellow veined.

I'm pretty sure that this is mag def, despite giving epsom salts at the end of week one and the end of week 4 (6 days ago). I'm really disapointed as I had high hopes for the 400 after doing so well with the 250, but ultimately i guess it's my fault.

Any help would be appreciated, and if you can confirm Mag def, how long before adding more Mg (will use gold label Mg next time instead of epsom salts)

I use Biobizz all mix soil, Biobizz Nutes, Hesi NUtes, and Gold Label nutes, on separate plants

damn those thing are leggy as fuck. i think you should rework your whole setup to utilize that light to its fullest potential. right now the bottom of your plants are in the dark

did you start those under the 400? if so how far away was the light? what week did you start to see issues?

i agree they are pretty leggy but some strains are just like that. next grow if your only using a 400w you should look into the ScROG or even just some LST to keep the canopy nice and low and then you can drop the light so the plants are getting max amount of light. just some food for thought. i dont diagnose plant problems on here as i feel its not my strong point but if you need help with training hit me up :)

Problems started about second week of flower

Nope I started them under CFL's at 2" away from bulb, and then under the 400 to flower 8" away from the bulb, these things just sprung up nothing I have ever seen. One plant showed signs of Nitrogen abundance, but that soon passed. I appreciate i'm not getting the best form my light, and didn't plan the grow to turn out like this. I've decided to go for 9 smaller plants next time, I always seem to have best results with them, like the one I chopped today, with shared my smaller tent with a few other plants under a 250, and turned out great, but only about 20" tall

a 400 isnt going to just throw your grow into a whack. what about temps and venting?? those last pics look good bro wtf is going on? lol

I know, what I mean is, too many changed variables. Different plants grow differently, the more powerful light will increase water and useage, plus getting used to how long the soil takes to run out of nutes (went from light mix to all mix) etc etc, plus concentrating on uni made me drop the ball, but hey ho.

I plan to have 9 smaller plants under it next time, and as I rule i do top at least once, and even me leggy plants are topped, you just can't see it from the pics.

Thanks for all your helps, even those who tell me i'm not getting the best form my light - I KNOW, I TOPPED AT FLIPPED AT 12" HOPING TO KEEP THEM SHORT AND BUSHY - I'm really annoyed all light is being wasted, please stop reminding me :)

Are we agreed its a Mag def though??

im not one for diagnosing online either........ well in real life as well, lol. Would it have anything to do with genetics? i'd just do a big flush on them and up the nutes

7.5 litre air pots, flipped at about 16" when they looked like this, and now about 3ft+ !! They are supposed to be predomnantly Indica, and while the leaves say INdica, the growth says Sat. Also, the budd's look more Sat if you ask me

Temps are Low 20's during light, dropping to 13-15 at night (my house gets cold in the winter)

Anyway gonna agree it's Mag def, or maybe burn?? I'm waiting to water :)

Hi Hettyman it's been a while dood.

i ain't too sure what to suggest except a good flush through with plain water to hopefully start feeding em up into the flowering period. It looks like it COULD be a Mag def but it could easily be a Mag Lock from too much, it's hard to tell from the pictures. It could also be Burn from overfeeding. One other thing man, those new aeropots sends roots back into themselves right? forget that dood, i just thought things through and i don't think it has anything to do with the pots :p lol

What strain did you say it was? is this your first time growing it? that could be a factor, plus it may be sensative to feeds, how ofeten were you feeding and how much?

Yeah, I had to force myself not to come anywhere near this site untill I had a big chunk of my uni work done. It's Aurora Indica from Nirvana. I haven't been feedng much, always keepng below the manufacturer feeding schedule, but maybe the stronger soil i'm using threw me out, along with the new strain, light and nutes. I fed them again today, and then will flush in 2 days, and start feeding all over again.

Ultimatily I realise now that this is gonna be making the best of a bad situation, but only 5 weeks or so before I chop them and can try again with another strain, and a bit more care and attention.

Thanks for popping in with some help :)
