-I don't know- but to me it looks like damage from some sort of grub or caterpillar.. keep your eye out for those... (sometimes green and blend in to the leaves, sometimes TINY, white, and hide in the small crevices of the leaf). Keep checking underside of the leaf for other things though, that's usually where you find the culprits.

Try earwigs, they come out at night. Hide under the pots or hopefully haven't burrowed into the dirt. Give them a spray of spinosad or insecticidal soap.

I had very similiar issues last grow, was damn ear wigs like CaliSmokes mentioned they come out at night. I wouldnt spray for that though, but then again i am against spraying anything haha. Are these outdoors or indoors? Would imagine if it were indoors you would definately find some trace by now. Doesnt really look like caterpillars though

I dont believe its insects at all. In my opinion it looks like some sort of mechanical damage from you, equipment ect. Some of the the "torn" spots look to have been there as that leaf opened when it was new. The margins on some of them are rolled over beautifully smooth and green and appear not to be an injury at all. The margins of these "damaged" areas would be rough in notches from insects not tears and would be brownish possibly dry with yellowing such as true mechanical damage from you or equipment, wich is also present. Just my opinion.
