Have you had problems with seeds?

Hey mates. Lately we have had massive problems in our country, the seeds just wont germinate,or if they do, they stop doing anything in a few days. No matter the brand or shop we get them from, and im not the only one in our friend group experiencing this issue. Is this global?

Well let me rephrase that. It seems to be getting more common and often involves coco, a complex nutrient system and questionable watering habits.

“Did you pH the cal mag and test the runoff? This sure is fun!”
Why would he need to add "calmag" or test runoff starting seeds? You should use a pipette or a towel to stay on top of water volume and not overwater seedlings IMO.

Coir is tricky for beginners yes. But seeds only need water to sprout, no nutrients what so ever. Especially if he uses pre buffered coir. Cheers!

Maybe you have a fugus popping up like Smut (Urocystis and Ustilago spp.) or some other local endemic fungus cropping up due to weather in your area.
Are you under a heat wave and drought, fungal spots on the lawns in the summer? Can't imagine this is anything in North hemisphere except too cold to grow right now.
Usually it's just too cold, too wet when you get damping off like you describe.

I live in the nordic region, and its currently winter in here, so the air is dry and frosty, not warm or humid.

To answer your question, which is ridiculous, no. And it is ridiculous. You see pictures of hundreds of plants and seedlings from around the world. Instead ask yourself what you’re doing extremely poorly.

What gives? Maybe try other methods, your problem is in the execution I do believe. Grow well...

Good seed hygiene is important-soaking in a diluted h202 solution helps kill any pathogens that the seed picked up on its travels and also chemically scarifies the seed, improving germination rates. I use 30 ml of the 3% h2o2 to 500 ml water, soak for 12 hours, then transfer the seed direct to media, either seed starting mix, coco coir (low PPM/ph adjusted), or a root riot cube. Use gloves, wash your hands really well or use some other item to transfer the seeds, human hands are filthy. No moisture tents needed. Keep under t5s or equivalent 24/7, 78-80 degrees. 100% germination rate for years, cannabis, tomato seeds, squash, lettuce, you name it. Southern Ag "garden friendly fungicide" will prevent damping off if that's an issue for you. Here is a good germ guide with no BS bro science germ advice https://www.mandalaseeds.com/Guides/Germination-Guide

It's amazing the problems people have with seeds,in September put a order to " the choice seedbank" for 6 different seed companys and had no issues with any of the seeds I bought. The only issue was with the freebie seeds only 4 out of 6 germinated.maybe that's why they were free bc of know issues?Getting a seed to germinate is only the beginning of a long process just keep trying it is a great process to start and finish and then b able to smoke ur own product amazing!
