I forgot to mention in the last post that even though the coco was still wet, we still had to water cause we were using the fox farms liquid nutes. We figured that the plants are getting overwatered big time so that is another reason it probably isn't doing better than we expected.so that's when we decided it would be better to switch over to dry nutes. So gavoita it was. We blended it into the soil so we will see how it goes. So at this site we are gonna switch over from liquid nutes over to dry nutes

Was able to save some Cali Red seeds I scored from mexi bag seed. What monsters this strain!!! Started from seed in April. Pushing 8' huge white hairs, knarly compact red buds..............perfect.
Cant wait to dry and cure...............shud b killa.
I will post some pics of this monster on Hawaii growers for fun.

I also forgot to mention in the last post that site B gets rained on alot which is the major reason as to why our plants getting overwatered, damn micro climates

well, I was browsing another forum to check out more about growing in coco and dude says you can't overwater coco cause it's like a sponge, it will take in as much as it can and that's it. the rest is run-off. which sort of makes sense, so I guess you can't overwater coco so that can't be a factor to our slight dissapointment. but it still seems way to wet. but the thread I was reading, dude says to keep the coco wet at all times. no problem there can do so I guess we just gotta up the nutes more and try to get more sunlight into the site, and see if that helps

I get it doc, think of it as a sponge saturated with water, pour soda (nutes) on that soaked sponge. How much "soda" did it absorb??? Nothing really cuz the water don't let the soda absorb.
The roots just get to taste the nutes before the rain washes it out. We need to try to squeeze the grow bags free of as much water we can so it will hold the nutes. The dry nutes will feed them slow. I bet they will look alot better next time we see them.

A wee word of warning, don't squeeze too much, you will end up compacting the coco - I noticed this on a previous grow that I had packed one of my pots with more coco - coco was always pretty wet on that one pot. The yield wasn't as great either so I guessed by compacting it I wasn't giving the roots as much airiation (is that a word

I have done a soil/coco grow before and it worked out just fine
I am using a different type of coco now and it's taking some getting use to I will agree. The soil here can be very rocky or sandy so sometimes its not the best. Most of the good growing soil is up north in the country. Its a pain in the ass to get to the north side sometimes as its kinda far for Hawaii and you really only have one way to get there. Because of the mauka areas you have to back track to get to places. I used to pick up from a guy I met when I went hiking in haula. He was kind enough to let me park in his yard rather than at the trail head. Thats really good here as breakins at trail heads has been a problem here. Lucky never for me but still Id hate to have it happen. So then he asks if id like to smoke and im like hell yea.
Next thing I know I have met his entire family and now I have even more uncles and aunties lol. Im up to late smoking tonight im just rambling on. What I was trying to get at is hes not far as the crow flys but it takes an hour and a half to get there because of the mountains. I like to make a big circle and enjoy the drive through some of the most beautiful towns in the world. Not the richest towns in terms of money but far richer in things that matter. I could sit outside a small mom and pop store and talk story with people all day. toss up a shaka as the bus passes and listen to amazing music played by kids just hanging out. Its very common to see a kid strumming a ukulele sitting at the bus stop waiting to go to the beach to hang with his friends. Wow im one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to live the life we do here. Gota love Hawaii!!
