health canada application rejected due to dr error :(

so i had a renewal appointment with my clinic and it was a different doctor than the first time, oh well no big deal, appointment went well and received my medical document in the mail not too long after... 3-4 months later im excited to see an envelope from health canada only to find out its my returned application along with a rejection letter stating it wasn't approved because the medical document wasn't an original, but a copy

health canada was kind enough to be very specific with their reasoning, even using a bright yellow arrow sticker to pinpoint the exact issue w/ the medical document

turns out the doctor initialed a section that specifically said in bold letters: "If the patient chooses to produce cannabis for their own medical purposes or you are not submitting this document via secure fax do not initial the box below."

it has now been 2 months and I have left multiple voicemails with the clinic, emailed the clinic, and even e-mailed the prescribing doctor directly to try remedying this and have received ZERO response. their website states due to covid they are working from home, but i have a hard time believing they didn't receive my voicemails or emails..... it's really unfortunate because this clinic charged a very reasonable flat rate regardless of prescription size

if this clinic doesn't respond to me soon i may just have to accept the loss and find a new clinic... does anyone know of any clinics with reasonable rates?? none of this $1500 for 50gpd bullshit. i need to get this ball rolling soon because HC takes fkin months

Did you try a referral from your family doctor?

I filled out the forms myself with my script for buying and they rejected it and then i told the pot doc i needed the grow doc...i had to bitch a bit about it but i got a call from them. It was FREE. The doctor did the paperwork and about 5 to 6 months later the script arrived.

It was tempting to go with one of those shady 'pay me for a big script' companies but I really just wanted one big enough for my personal growing so it all worked out...

Being legal to grow 4 plants per household in Canada now and being able to do that 3 times per year gives you 12 finished plants. With a 1/4 lb per plant which is not difficult to accomplish you still get 3 lbs a year. That's a 1/4 pound a week. Do you even need that license any more? I don't know your situation so not judging, just wondering if there might not be an easier route to take?

Manitoba does not allow you to grow unless you have a medical licence, Quebec was the same but I thought I heard that might be challenged. I have a medical licence and I have five different strains, a couple CBD, a 1:1 ratio CBD to THC, two different THC strains. At different times of the day. Then you are getting clones going and they count as a plant each. Edibles and a hot press reduce what you get as compared to smoking but is easier on the lungs and more useful as medicine. Then growing in the dead of winter sucks with heating air and exhausting it. I will hopefully finished growing by the end of November, a month I would rather have things put away for winter. Start up again, maybe March.

Yeah four plants would almost not be worth it.

I see, your in one of the hold out provinces, my condolences. Hopefully that will change for you. I have a 5 gram per day prescription due to breaking my back while younger so I get the medical needs. My life improved greatly when I was able to legally grow 4 plants. Myself I want to be able to stop in the heat of summer. With a min goal of 4 oz per plant that provides 4 oz min per week for me of good bud and trimmings/popcorn bud for edibles. To me it is well worth it but hey, everyone's situation is different. I hope you can find what you need. Here is a link to an online clinic that may be of help. Thanks but I am already using the people at Natural Health Services, I never gave a link and never explained enough. They have been pretty good, they have an office in town but did a phone interview this time which is normal The government we have is protecting us, more like protecting a new financial source. If we did have the four plant limit then I may not have gone through the trouble.

But now that I have the doctor had been pretty good about my prescription. I had 10 plants but when asked about how is it going I said it is a little harder to grow the stuff than it looks, at least it has been for me with the CBD plants. I said it was a little tight with keeping the mothers, cloning them and having them mature, he bumped me up to 25 plants. Now I can clone some plants and pick the stronger ones to grow. I hope to process the bud with a press or bubble bags and should have enough that I will not be sweeping the floor to get enough.

I have a condition where the light touch and temperature nerves are going up the pain pathways and I can only wear the minimal of clothing and have to stay under 24 C. If I begin to sweat or even get a few scratches on my skin (I was trimming the bushes in shorts) it feels like shingles all over my body. I have been smoking in the evening to help me sleep but I want to get to the point where I can do normal things that people do, sit out in the park on a sunny day. I am mainly stuck indoors in winter and in summer.

i contacted the clinic through their "Contact Us" page on their website and received a phone call back the next day profusely apologizing for the mistake, apparently they hadn't received any of my previous e-mails or voicemails (perhaps I was e-mailing a do-not-reply e-mail address, although you'd expect an automated reply stating the account isn't monitored) but anyways they are sending me out a new medical document by mid week so i'll have all my paperwork in order soon enough!

to be honest, $376 fee for a prescription is by far the best and most fair clinic i've found... it's also $50 cheaper if you are able to attend in person (fort frances) and the price is a flat-rate regardless of the size of prescription... those clinics that charge a sliding scale depending on the size of the prescription are just totally unjustifiable IMHO..

from my understanding, 50 grams is the highest they will prescribe to a new patient, but i believe they will go up to 80 grams for a renewal if you and the doctor come to an agreement that it's necessary for your treatment plan, although i didn't bother increasing when i renewed as 50 grams was definitely sufficient for me and my space constraints
