Health Canada seeks starting materials solution for licensed producers

In response to an ongoing concern from some licensed medical cannabis producers, Health Canada says department officials are reaching out to numerous foreign government agencies and companies to find a solution.


The agency says they have currently reached out to 25 governmental authorities in various countries for a list of legal cannabis companies. They also say they have reached out to 18 foreign companies legally allowed to work with cannabis to see if they can provide starting materials for Canadian medical marijuana producers.

Seems like even LP's have problems finding starting materials!

I know a few that already had their licence from HC by the end of august or early september.And are they supposed to be still waiting for legal starting materials ?

I am with broken coast and I called them yesterday to ask when they would have seeds or clones available and they said that they basically have no idea or timeline yet. But I could get my doc to split my script with another LP that has clones available. Whistler medical marijuana wants $750.00 for five then $20.00 a pop for every clone after. I think Canna Farms wants $375.00 for five. Those are the only two currently selling cuttings. Like wtf. That's insane. I've had wonderful clones given to me for free LOL. And all sales final. Soo...what if four of my five clones die during shipping and I just handed you half a pay cheque? Like Fuck that.

From what I've been told once you get your registration. You can send a copy to BC for your intern supply. Then send another copy to what ever lp you want for clones or seeds. You would have to fill out a separate form A for each producer specifying what your getting from. the Lp's

Also I've heard thc biomed will have " affordable " starting Materials very soon.

Considering these LP's relied on mmar seeds and clones to get started, they do not own the genetics. What did the LP's pay patients for their starting materials? I think they should be forced to give it away. Most of us know where we can get quality seeds and clones locally, often for free. I've never had a problem.

As I suspected, the whole med mj thing is a big scam to profiteer on the sick. Fortunately, no sane person would bother filling out "form A" when there's about 1000 seed companies online. That's also why nobody in their right mind will buy weed from the Weed Commission stores. Why pay any tax at all? So you can feel like a good little boy or girl? Okay, good for them. They can throw their money away if they want. Probably the same people who buy wine from the Liquor Commission when grape juice and yeast are readily available. There's a lot of suckas around apparently, and the Trudeau Gov't is more than willing to take advantage. I bet they'll charge $750 for 5 seeds. Sounds like a bargain, I'll take 100.

Or people that buy a burger when cows and wheat are readily available? Like booze (and virtually everything else) the majority of people will opt for the easiest solution, especially if they have the means to pay. I hear ya with buying clones and seeds...don't give that scam the time of day.

Honestly I doubt very much that an ACMPR inspector will be knocking on my door to see where I got my starting materials.

Just shows how lame Health Canada is. They could just walk into, say, Crop King's office in Vancouver and buy a bunch of seeds off the rack. They haven't been shut down and operate openly so what's the point in pretending that seeds have to be imported?

Yeah it is a big song and dance because everyone knows HC can easily give a section 56 exemption to anyone they please for any reason, they could make s statement tomorrow saying "Sec 56 for anyone in mmar or acmpr for seeds" then anyone can get seeds how ever they please.

Does anyone seriously think this matters at all...where to buy seeds???????????...it's so ludicrous I can't believe anyone here even bothers to take it seriously.
I'd like to see the IQ test of anyone who actually orders seeds or clones from an LP...
WTF am I in some kind of stupid dream here?
