if the supreme court is looking over the health bills part that says everyone must buy insurance. if it get knocked down and is deemed unconstitutional then wouldnt making everyone have car insurance also be deemed unconstitutional?

everyone says getting car insurance is unconstitutional but it isnt because the government doesnt make you buy a car and it is your state that makes you get the insurance

Car insurance laws exist for liability reasons. You get in an accident, it's your fault, your liability insurance pays for the damage you inflicted. I've never heard of any laws mandating coverage for your own vehicle.

Health care is different. You can only damage yourself by not having health insurance.

You can also do damage to the system as a whole, because most hospitals are required to treat emergency patients knowing they will never pay. Where do you think this lost revenue is made up? Jacked up rates for everyone who DOES pay. The health care system does need a big overhaul, everyone should have access to healthcare, but Obamacare is complete garbage. How do we tell people who are already struggling to get by that they are now required by law, and face huge fines if they don't pay into our corrupt health insurance system? We don't need insurance companies... at least not on the scale that they exist in 2012. We need state-run, single payer programs. If you have the means to purchase more premium care through insurance that can always be on the table as well.

my state has mandatory health care and i get charged over a thousand bucks for the year if i don't have it. they fuck you hard come tax time. i don't qualify for free care and i can't afford the state plan that was offered to me. for this villainy i must pay $1200, which is hilarious considering the insurance is less than $1200 for the year. excuse the shit out of me for not having an extra 80 bucks each month, or choosing to spend it the way i personally see fit. the insurance plan i would end up with is garbage, anyway.

my state also has mandatory car insurance which is among the most expensive in the country. the difference with that is i can choose not to drive and therefore not carry car insurance. i have no choice in the matter of health insurance unless i choose not to exist.

There are plently of people who have no automobile insurance, because they do not own automobiles. Should they be forced to buy automobile insurance, too?

That is where your argument falls flat.

Because the only way to opt out of purchasing mandatory health insurace is to not be alive. And that is not a choice.

And please link to a source that lists a FEDERAL statute requiring automobile insurance.

I'll save you the trouble. You can't because there is not one.

Mandatory Insurance laws are at the state level, and vary by state. New Hampshire has no laws requiring minimum coverage.

You see, the Federal government has no authority over state requirements for automobile coverage.

It's the business of each state.

Just as health insurance should be.
