Healthy Roots Turning Brown! Please help

After the last rez change, the nutrients were changed to a new 3-part called Holland Secret.

The only thing different was the PPPM was put up about 100, and the water was straight from the tap ( i didnt have time to let it sit) could this be the culprit? My tap water is 100ppm....

I hope someone can help as my other rez's roots are lovely and white as i didnt change them over the same time....

Theres a guy here who knows a lot about dwc and root problems. His sn is Heisenburb (sp?). Like from the show Breaking Bad. If anybody has a good answer it would be him.
Check out the DWC sub forum he should be easy to find.

Its not imperative that your roots are platinum white. If you're not using beneficial bacteria or enzymes then hit them with some H²O².

I also use Cannazym in my system. Say what you want about the brand, but that stuff rocks.

Benificial bacteria such as "Cobra" is also good for the "Rhizosphere". Its pretty expensive, but well worth it IMO. Forget white roots if you're going to use BB.

I see, but, what im worried about is , why only now theyve turned brown after a rez change..

I just figured that my PPM is way to high for week 2 of veg its at 800ppm but thats with 200ppm being the standard water...

If you are using synthetic chemical nutrients then your roots will naturally turn a little colored.

What are your res temps at? Mid-Low 70's and you can begin
to see problems.

Figured I'd ask since it hadn't been mentioned.

If you think it's over fertilization look at the tops of your plants,
if they start to get a brown color from the tips/sides of the leaves
then you could be burning them. I don't THINK that the roots will
turn brown from over fertilization.

I dont think you have root rot I had a similar issue and I freaked out too but turns out my roots just became stained in some areas because I use GH Florablend and GH Floarlicious plus ( which is organic and dark like oil) ...as long as your roots that are completely submerged or your bottom roots stay white and look healthy then you should be fine.

My water temps are 23 degrees c.

Thanks everyone for the help, i have been frequently using h202 and the problem is now gone...although one or two of the small bottom leaves have yellowing.....diagnosis?

Just because they arent white it doesnt mean their is a problem. are they gooy or stinky? Mine are a light tint of brown but that is because of the hydroton.

What this guy said !! I forgot to mention you will be able to smell ROOT ROT I never had it but every one says it smells like rotten eggs so if you cant smell anything then you should be good to go.

It doesnt look like rot to me. There would be a lot more sludge and no white roots. Anyway if it does turn out to be rot get some Roots Excelurator. Only product on the planet proven to kill pythium outbreaks.

House and garden are great. Roots Excelurator is expensive but goes a lot further than most other products out there.
