It just keeps gettin better led heat sink

increases thermal conductivity but also directly reduces production costs. In the case of applications that already had inadequate thermal conduction rates and then came to require an active cooling system, the reliance on these active cooling systems can be greatly reduced; reducing the size of these systems or eliminating them altogether will also reduce production costs.

Since I do not have a macro lens it's hard to capture the calyxes. I used a magnifying glass, but pic is kinda blurry

I'll be moving the 4 surviving clones (2 from smaller F1 WHxWW + 2 from Melanie) into the downstairs tent starting with the 2 ufos (3500- 5000k).

I wanted to move them over a week ago, but hurt my back. I need to configure a wood board with 2 eye hooks then contort to place it inside the tent, but could not think about it until today, and I'm still sore.

Looks like one of the clones got pollinated from the G13 male from when I had the clones in an open bucket. 2 days ago I moved them into my DIY bubbler with 35 lpm pump + 4 large oxystones

I have looked into these. They will send you free samples(5pack). And if you have a couple addresses and fake business names you could get a few packs. They make copper ones too.

Your girls are stacking nicely. Big vibrant puffy white hairs.

Tags420. Nice to see you post here. kiss-ass

My ladies said they appreciate the compliment, and that I take very good care of them, and, they plan to reward me some kick-ass meds, and seeds too.

DIY is not my level of expertise, but I really appreciate the info you all share . It has certainly helped me up my LED lighting knowledge, enough to start a company retrofitting commercial panels (4000-5000K) in offices. My end is to sell. We hire electricians to install.

Anyway, I figured you guys would want to know, if you already didn't.

Any idea how many could be attached to a 4ft led tube heat sink? This should minimize heat sink cost + be an easy kick-ass DIY. There may even be further heat reduction due to the 180* curve

I mean I think even I could build it, but if something electrical wasn't right, I would not know how to trouble shoot, neither do I have the equipment.

Hey PetFlora. Sorry to hear you're down in the back. I hope you heal fast. I struggled this summer with an S1 issue and it made gardening almost impossible... especially watering.

Thanks for keeping up your journal as good as you do. I have realized that it is not an easy job and appreciate what you bring to this forum.

Back at ya,

On healing (NPI), At least mine is muscular/ligament oriented. Though it's hurtin worse since moving the clones this morning. My mj meds are ether takin the edge off, or making me less aware of it.

on appreciation.

IMHO, we have a kick-ass group, each with their own unique interest of pursuit. Putting them all together is like Alchemy. The more them I incorporate, the better my grows become

Thought I would post root pics from the G13xWH male, from which I have lots of pollen

My grow pots are Air Pots which are sturdy, reusable, and can accept most grow mediums. My medium is a combination of ornamental/river rock ($1/bag at Dollar Store) + Lava Rock, which is also cheap. They can be cleaned, sterilized and reused for a long long time

Plant was pulled 2 days ago, but roots were still plenty moist. Note how small the root-ball is, especially for a 4ft plant. Big roots are not necessary, and will not develop when the plant is being fed efficiently

You might notice too many net pots, but I used what I had. My DIY bubbler is from when I was doing high pressure aero. Small net pots fit nicely inside pvc couplers: it was made to handle 7 small net pots.

The one liter air pots accept the ~ 3"+ net pots, with a minor vertical cut to push it flush with the top. I did an experiment to see whether the 4 liter AP would grow bigger plants, so I put the one liter AP inside a 4 liter AP, and side filled with lava rock. The roots barely moved outside the one liter APs BECAUSE they did not need to go in search of nutrients.

The clones are in another DIY bubbler with four 3"+ net pots which I had made for me 3 years ago. I need to buy that size hole saw, and a larger tote for starting more seedlings/clones

Anyway this set up uses 35 lpm air pump with 4 nipples. I use 4 large cylinder oxystones to super-oxygenate the < 200ppm water.

Currently under the 2 ufos (3500 + 5000K). They do get warm, so I leave the front flaps open

I have been watching the whole time. I should have spoken up soon if I knew the ladies liked it.

I don't DIY in practice, but like you, it helps me understand things as a whole system.
I do have a design and it involves square aluminum tubes. It's a pretty basic design like most aquarium DIY's. CaliJoe had something close. Other than the amount of chip it involves, the rest would be fairly reasonable on the wallet. But I will probably never do it, I'm covered for a while light wise.

A round tube would be tough, but I do like the idea for coverage. Advanced arc series has is all wrong, they should have flipped the arc to be convex.
I don't know if the sink pads are actually good. I just wanted to see their product page and next thing I knew I had samples on the way.

Making beans is special. Truly gives you something no one else has, or can get. You are the keeper of your creations.

Been using V + B for ~ 5 grows now, and erred on the side of caution as to how much to push.

In the past I have kept to ~ 800-1000ppm during peak of bud development, then backed down weekly

This time I am inching it up to ~ 1200 for the last week, and now pushing it to ~1400. Buds look plumper today

It's a daily chore to keep rez ~ 1500. with all the leafs feeding off the lights to feed the buds, rez is down ~ 1 g/day, increasing the concentration to ~ 1900. My water level is ~ 5 gallons

Good problem to have, but I have the time to monitor. For those who don't, get a bigger rez, but that presents other problems

Weekend update will be 30 days since first pistils

Update on clones + hot5 tent

Clones

New leafs are beginning to pop. I took several root shots to show how fast they are growing as well as how much wider due to now using 3" net pots. Note you can see the river rock inside the net pots + before after trimming

HOT5

The last pic shows how breaking the main stem did not hurt growth above it.

The others to show how much fatter buds are since Wednesday
