Heat advice on seedlings

I need some advice on whether these are survivable or should I just minimize the risk of potential problems by just starting over. This is my first grow.

I currently germed 8 seeds about one week ago and planted them in cocoir and perlite, almost a 50-50 combo. My room is about a 9x9 and I am using a 1000 w MH bulb for vegging. I know it puts out tremendous heat but its all the lighting I have at the moment. The first two days or so they seemed very lively and wanting to grow. However, I've been battling heat problems in my grow room and temps would soar very high when the door was pulled in. I am keeping the plants on a 24/7 light cycle right now and they are about 15 inches from the top of the light.

The first few days, I managed to keep the heat down to about 86 degrees, but at night when the door was closed at times it could reach close to 100. The seedlings have endured this for about 3-4 days. Their leaves turned a slight yellow from the burns.Yesterday I finally managed to set up my correct ventilation system, which includes an AC that runs all the time.

Here is the problem: Last night I left my AC to run with my lights and everything was fine, until I woke up and went in the room. It was 96 degrees because piece of cardboard fell and blocked the AC all night. The seedlings leaves looked significantly more burnt and yellow but part of the leaf and new growth are still green. I am just concerned that they may have suffered too much already for only being so young. I don't know if this will cause future problems like growth stunt or possible hermieing even though it is far from flower.

I now have the temps back to about 79 -83 F degrees and it should remain about their for the rest of my grow. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

1000 W is a little bit much for seedlings, but with 8 plants going, you will be happy later! Do you have a dimmable ballast by chance that you could dial it down a little?

Only advice I have, make sure that cardboard is out of the room so it doesn't happen again.

Good luck and keep us posted!
