Heat in a 150w hps vs 250w

I have a dr60 tent which is 2' x 2' x 5'... I want to go with a 250W, but I am worried about the amount of heat from it. Is there much of a difference in heat between 150w and 250w? If I get a 250W, do you think I'd need a air cooled hood? I just have a growbright 4" inline with carbon scrubber.

Well, going from 8-CFL to a 150W HPS, the new heat was staggering. I doub't 250 will be much more. a 250 will flower in 2x2 very well. With a fan blowing directly towards the light, i keep it right on top, <2", to perfectly cover ~1.5X1.5X2.5. It is not air cooled.

Your intake temps and CFM will determine if you need a cool tube...............And blowing a fan right on the light is like night and day too in small spaces.

Cmon 250 guys!! Lets hear your stuff.

I used to run a 250w over a 2x3 tray for hydro (ebb and flow).

Some things I learned:

If you grow your plants big (switch to 12/12 past 12-14") You are going to have some nice fat colas, but there will be a lot of waste at the bottom. 250w cant penetrate very far.

SOG is what i've found to be most efficient. But if you're worried about plant count, I'd just grow like 4 plants and top them or stress train them. Definately start flower by 12" if you're not supplementing with CFLs.

Never had too many heat issues with a 250watter. Worked fine for me throughout my closet grows in the past.

YOU OUGHTTA STEP IT UP TO A 400!!!!
