Heat problems with hps grow lights

Have your lights come on @ night time when its cooler, and vent outside the room where the tent is located, or use AC.

Hi this is my first grow so I’m still learning. So please tell me what cool tubes are the lights are cool reflectors lights but even with fan still running extremely hot

what wattage is your HPS?

What size is your tent?

what size is your AC inifite fan?

where is your exhausted hot air being dumped?

what’s the ambient temperature of the room with your tent in it?

Let’s make a start at finding where your problem is.

Parabolic reflectors are your best friend when it comes to keeping a cool canopy, the heat gets thrown over the canopy not directed into it.

It's around 40 bucks for a secret Jardin 50cm mylar parabolic reflector.
Or 80 bucks for the 100cm metal version.

That was before leds, leds much better growing environment. Forgot to mention 16 inch fan on roof on high. Still horrible to grow with in this area. Pm and spider mites are the story of my hps grows.
No need to blame lighting for your environmental fuck ups, I ran hps for years and never seen a hint of PM, let alone mites?

not even sure what your answers have to do with helping buddy with his heat issues tbh

Yup! All on me! How far away did you keep lights?

Run at night.

If you don't have a sealed hood then get one and a 6 inch fan to exhaust the heat from the light out of the grow area.

I run an HPS but do it during the fall, winter, and spring. I shut down for a couple summer months but I would have to do that with LED's as well since I'm growing in a garage without air conditioning.

This would be a good option if possible. Not to mention it's cheaper to run things at night, especially something like a 1k grow light.

As others have mentioned, they want to know the starting point of the temperature of the air feeding in from the room. Me too.

But then I want to know about the fan setup because I typically had two fans. I would have a fan continuously pull air over the lights and I would intake that from the exterior of the tent. That always meant I was pulling room temperature air over the lights then I would exhaust that outside the room.

Then I would have a separate fan that would actually pull from the interior of the tent based on temperature or excess humidity.

Do you have one or two fans? Where is the intake coming from to the lights, is it coming from the tent interior or is it coming from exterior via some type of tube?
