anything below 85 is OKAY. But it can be better. Im not sure about the HPS. Do MH's burn hotter than HPS's?

This shit is frustrating, im battling the same issues. LMK.

I dont know for a fact, but ive read that MH are hotter than HPS.. How much so I have no clue.
Its wierd.. The top of my cab is about 10 degres cooler than the bottom . That just seems ass backwards to me because heat rises. Cant wait to get those desk fans.

haha thats fkn weird man. Your positive the fans are blowing the right way (top fans exhausting and bottom fans intaking?)

If your at 80* now and HPS burns cooler than you should be good. I think anywhere in the 70's is near perfect.

You need to direct the airflow better. Coming from a PC builder here, You cant just blow some fans up on a MH light and expect it to cool down, you need good proportional airflow, it doesnt even need to be blowing on the light itself, just need air coming into the grow box clean, and back out without any shit in the way. Here lemme draw you a picture.

Is this what your grow box looks like? Im guessing yes, Great

IN THIS PICTURE... as you can see, have the fans blowing on your plants,, this will act as a heat reducer, and it will also keep them strong....

SEE THAT VENT ON TOP? YOU REALLY REALLY NEED THAT, OR heat will be up in your box. If that Light in CREATING THAT MUCH HEAT, then it needs to come out of the closet, because thats your problemo.

strange you would have heat problems in that cab with 3 exhausts up top. try it without the forced intake first. then maybe redirect your exhaust.

hey Vaporbros, I'm starting with a cab same size as yours, and plan on using 150 hps as well, but i thought i was gonna have to extend the height of the cab to prevent plants growing in to it. i would love to see how your cab is setup

Well my goal is to make the biggest yeild out of a small, stealthy cab that i can hide right in my closet. With that said, if i grow from seed, im going to be vegging for only one week then flipping to 12/12. If i decide to purchase seeds they will most likely be an autoflowering Lowryder breed. If i plant clones im only vegging for a week then flipping as well. On top of that, i will be topping and LSTing them like crazy. Only being grown in 1 gallon pots. Sometimes 2 gallons. All of these methodes are likey to produce small, sinlge cola, "bud on a stick" plants. (minus topping or FiMing which will creat multiple tops)

Here is a link to my cab. Its still not finished though. Sorry for the rant im pretty stoned!

I dont reccomend auto's as they have to have 20/4 lighting so u cant put any other strain in w/ them really...and if ur gonna go 12/12 that fast its just easier to go w/ a fast flowering reg strain.this will be my last auto grow.

yea ok.. How about you spend your money and ill spend mine ? Ive already spent over $700.00.
Just trying to help you out man. I had the same heat problems, and I didn't solve them until I got an air cooled hood. You are right that they get extra hot. I had a 400W MH and a 1000W hps going at the same time and temps were unbelievable. Not trying to say splurge on dumb shit, but heat is pretty important and very bad on your grow.

if you are exhausting into the top of your cabinet you need to change this. Move your top fans to the rear of the cab and exhaust out to the room. Or duct it out to the attic like you suggested. Exhausting into the top of the cab will restrict the flow of air. You don't seem to have enough FLOW, and this will cause a build up of heat over the light period. You need to get that hot air the fuck out of there consistently without any restrictions. This will solve your problem and only cost you a bit of time. Hope you understand what I'm say'n.
