Lil history here- does anyone remember Heavens Stairways seedbank? It was out of Canada and the first and best seedbank around. Think it started up in the late 90s, I ordered from them in the early 2000s. They had a very cool website for the era and were carrying multiple different breeders seeds like- Bros grim, Dj Short, og raskal, etc. They had a huge awesome selection. They weren't one of those shit sites that just have these stains and nothing about the breeder they come from. The only other seedbank around was Marc Emery's site and that one wasn't as good as heavens. Anyways heavens stairway got busted in 2006 and all outgoing orders confiscated...I remember people online were worried about info and addresss stored on computers that the police had. I didn't freak since I ordered like 2 packs years prior to the bust and didn't have them come to my spot, I was slick even back then.
This led to the overgrow site going down I believe. This was a very big deal at the time and I'm sure growers all over Canada + the US were freaking out, especially if they had big grow ops, and did big orders of seeds in 2006 up until the bust. I'm sure growrooms were tore down and also busted because of this event. It's weird to think of now, but back then you really had to watch out, something like this happening was sketchy as fuck.

I personally would never order from marijuana-seeds.nl. I have known people who have in the past and a lot of the genetics are not what they advertised. My guess would be m-s.nl buy bulk seeds cheap in Spain or some other parts of Europle. Marijuana-seeds.nl site was not even up and running in the years I'm talking about anyways. I was just using them as an example of just a site that had strains with questionable lineage. Compared to an older site like heavens stairway which was legit as fuck. Do you still order from marijuana-seeds.nl? You check out banks like gloseedbank, neptuneseedbank, Oregoneliteseeds, deeplyrootedseedbank, and harvestmutual to name a few. Marijuana-seeds.nl is one of those sites geared to new growers that don't know much and are googling great marijuana seeds to buy. Haha

Basically heavens stairway was the early prototype of modern genetics sites like Neptuneseedbank and even attitude. Even though this was years ago heavens stairway had a very slick looking website, it's was years ahead of it time.

Second place I ever bought seeds, after Emery. If it weren't for Overgrow and Heaven's Stairway, the cannabis gene pool we have today wouldn't exist.

Ya but imagine how much genetics were lost in the Heaven's Stairway bust...a lot dude. Enough to make a difference, there's probably strains we don't have now because of the bust. There's pics of it online, just massive u-haul boxes filled to the brim with seeds. After that happened cannabis culture magazine put out a warning to any growers who were Heaven's Stairway customers. Shit was crazy back then. Look at this online article, Hawg-

Man I probably have that issue somewhere in a box in the attic or garage. I used to buy Cannabis Culture religiously, and Skunk Magazine later on. I don't buy any of those magazines anymore, but I remember back in the day reading the descriptions in the Emery ads and planning out what I was going to buy next. Then, when Heaven's Stairway came along, I felt like a kid in a candy store... except I had a couple of nickels and the candy was all a quarter or more. LOL

Yeah it's back but not really the same. It was the Wild West back then, breaking new ground. Now it's just a pale imitation of what the forum scene was like between when the original went down and around 2013 or 14 when several big forum/seed selling sites ripped off all their customers and breeders and got ghost on everyone or went belly up all within a year or so of each other. That's about the same time I took a long hiatus and got off the interwebs for a long time. When I came back around, everything was mostly based off IG rather than the forums. We used to look at RIU as the noob forum or "Trollitup" back then. Now, it's really the only one I see getting any major traffic besides ICMag, which was never really my hangout spot.

Riu I would guess has the most traffic of all the growing forums nowadays. Icmag was great but just not a lot of action on there these days. I used to be on thc farmer years and years ago but ended up coming back here, just found the forum somewhat boring. There's a few newer ones like chuckersparadise that are whatever<actually this one has the same website interface as riu. Always found riu a really user friendly site. There's a wealth of great growing info on here.
That's why some people get pissed when someone makes a post asking, how do I get rid of thrips? That shit has already been answered 30x and we do have a search button here.

My first seed order was through Kind seeds in 2002. Bought skunk #1 feminized from Dutch passion, then a few months later DP's blueberry regulars.

Kinds seeds had an ad in front cover of high times. All my friends thought Feds would be kicking down my door, lol.

Then a couple years later we found Marc's Cannabis culture magazine and started ordering through them. That lasted till the DEA shut him down. They got my money for an order I had sent in at that same time. I ended up getting a letter from the DEA pretending to be Marc telling me to send more money and give my real address, lol.

Never tried heaven's stairway.

I then switch to Gypsy Nirvana until they stole my $200+ cash. He ended up getting busted too. I think for child rape in Thailand or some weird shit.

Nah Gypsy got busted by the DEA and Interpol for importing seeds from the U.S. That was the whole RezDog snitching fiasco.

I mean.... I think there were rumors to that effect, but if I remember correctly (I may be wrong) that was Subcool saying so in videos on YouTube and Sub hated Gypsy because his best friend OD'd in his apartment and supposedly Gypsy could have gotten help but was too concerned about being arrested. I wasn't there and don't know what's true and what's not as far as all that. That's just they way I remember it from old YouTube videos. ICMag and Gypsy history is kind of out of my wheelhouse because I mostly hung around Breedbay in those days.

Now you mentioned the OD story that does seem familiar. But God that was 12 years or so ago.

I was just pissed because the $220 i sent in I was trying to buy serious seeds ak47. That was when it was still a dank offering. I heard the ak now is nothing like it used to be.

But I do believe I read the child predator thing from sub when he was still active here on riu.
