Heavy Duty Fruity - from TH Seeds or BC Seed Company?

Hello guyz,

concerning the Heavy Duty Fruity strain:

if you had too choose between TH Seeds or
British Columbia Seed Company, which one would
make it into your grow room? and why?

is it (almost) the 'same' plant/genetics? what's different?

i grew out some HDF from TH Seeds some years ago
and it was superb. great flavor: a mix of melons and grapes.
great yields... should i try out BC Seed Company this time or
stick to TH Seeds? or (i don't think so but) is there a better
alternative to this strain in terms of 'Heaviness Dutiness Fruitiness'
except of the equal Chronic from Serious Seeds?

thx for any info or help in advance.

ive been strain hopping for over a year now trying to find that balance of quality & yield this is just my opinion but if you tried one version & it was good i would go for the one i know was good i took a chance on barneys pineapple chunk & was kind of let down & i now have the famous superlemon haze going on & having not learned anything i again am taking a chance on female seeds -x-line whitewidow-x-bigbud i did however find someone who grew it outdoors & liked it i would go with the th version as you already grew it & know what to expect, only my opinion though... good luck h.h.

ps. d-t i know its frustrating getting response to ?'s but you just kinda gotta keep plugging at it & dont be afraid to keep asking sooner or later someone with more experience with your strain than me will respond

thank you h.h. for your kind response! - i send some karma+ your way bro... :]

you are right: mostly the best way to gain solid knowledge is to experience it yourself. that someone had great success with 1strain doesn't necessarily mean i will, as well. so many diverse factors play a role...

in fact, i don't need nobody's help/experience (no more) to grow out connoisseur's grade mj. i've grown at least 30 strains in 4 years and had pretty much great results. but i had to do a break and had a severe downtime for 2 years...
now, i want to revive and try to perform a mainly organic grow again... but it still makes a lot sense to share info and keep learning, for even the topic of 'living soil' alone is so great/interesting/huge/complex that this is a lifetime journey, where you can never stop learning...

the thing is, i'm broke and have to choose among soooo many different strains, which is not that easy. i have some fav's but still want somethin' new and worth to give it a try, as well... i can get some BC Seed Comp. HDF cheaper than TH's...
but mainly, this is not the time for experimenting or playin' around, i simply need solid quality and quantity.

I can say that i had really great results with GH White Whidow/ White Rhino/ Arjan's Ultra Haze #1 but still don't like the company/people over there. That they win Cannabis Cups means and says nothing about their quality but shows Arjan's influence and marketing talents... (Maybe i give their Cheese a chance?)

With femaleseeds Grapefruit i had amazing results!!! This strain i can suggest you.
Great quality and flavors and huge yields.(even though the semi-autoflowering trait can be lil bit tricky for beginners with mums when given 'only' 18h of light but has enormous potential for outdoors, as well because she triggers flowering much sooner/faster than typical sativas and normally starts flowering after reaching a 'good' size or when the light-period decreases or when the amount of light gets less...) I will also try out their x-line Fast Nevilles this time, as well (even if it's still being in stabilizing-process). Plus i like the company/customer service.

And i will try out Sannie's Seeds. He told me that Killing Fields and Hericules are great in terms of quality and quantity. I also will try out their Chocolate Rain for some good reason ( i can't describe how glad i am that i could get my hands on some of de beans as they are sold out, right now! ;) Sannie is very kind and transparent. Plus he loves organics. And he gave me Herijuana x Big White freebies ;) Herjuana is dank. and Big White is a cross of PowerPlant x Chronic.

I got some others in mind but So far so good. Good luck h.h. and others!

hey d-t thanks for the heads up on the female seeds grapefruit it sounds like we got similar requirements [quantity & quality] as if youre gonna put forth time, money & effort its gotta give back dinafem critical jack is another strain of interest to me i grew bc bud depot mango & it yielded good & potent but lacked in flavor all in all financialy good to me let me know what you come up with i generaly have a thread going somewhere here all comments welcome especialy interested as we have similar goal

yes h.h. - we are somehow sittn' in the same boat bro. but which grower doesn't want to get more from de good stuff? ;)

concerning the critical jack: i was interested in this strain too but then dropped it coz there is already some Jack in sannie's killing fields/ hericules// femaleseeds grapefruit (mostly C99) i got. and the femaleseeds fast nevilles, which is a short flowering/high yielding remake of the legendary Nevilles Haze, the origin and donator of todays most haze hybrids. Jack Herer consists halfway of Nevilles Haze...

i thought about mr.nice critical mass instead but this is too critical and massive for my taste maybe. under good conditions most of the strains i grow out get big buds, don't wanna fight with bud-rot... th seeds HDF and serious seeds Chronic are outstanding, as well if you need the yields. not just that their flowers are heavy, they also come with superb aromas ( chronic smells like a mix of cherry and forest fruits ) but i think the chronic for instance could taste more intensive in a joint/ when smoked. for instance the dutch passion Blueberry (thx 2 Dj Short), which is one of the tastiest buds on planet earth, yields not great but is noticable more potent than HDF/Chronic. even though i had friends, who said that chronic smoke was too strong for them; one reported on extremely supernatural experiences and wanted to quit smoking for ever, which didn't work out ;)

to me, first comes quality then quantity. i tried organics/hydro/aero and must say that in terms of quality/ aromas/ taste there is nothin' what can beat organics!!! nothing. a grand master bio-grower can yield as much -if not more- than a grand master hydro-grower. i say this because you mentioned that your bc bud depot mango lacked in flavor. organically grown stuff produces a significantly wider and complex range of terpenes! sometimes there can be a pheno performing so good in hydro that many random consumers cannot tell where it derives from ( but i can ). and if you are very very lucky, there can be a pheno, which seems to do better in hydro ( this is said about the chemdog, for example ) but in general organics lead to unsurpassed and utmost quality there is.

i saw you're growin' some SLH. looks good bro. they seem to be mostly healthy. hope you get what you expect from dem. as i could see while overflyin' shortly, you use rockwool-slabs. don't know the exact volume ( maybe 20liters max.? ) but isn't that too less substrate for 3 ladiez? maybe you could get better results by giving dem roots more space to grow in. more roots/ more oxygen/ more bio-activity in the substrate means faster assimilation and more growth above the surface. just my 2cents. i will watch from time to time how they gonna develop. keep it up.

with kind regards,
dem treez.

hey d-t im not sere about the volume roughly 1 plant per sq.ft. of slab at 3'' thick i cut slabs apart after each grow to check root development so far there has been room left for growth i have mixed feelings about the slh & greenhouse seeds [at least in my case] is like opening a box of cracker-jacks you just dont know whats gonna pop up its a work in progress

have never used slabs. to me, it looks small for 3 girls but you surely know it better. it's just that i remember when using the dutch pot aero system, that the strongest and biggest plants with the greatest yields had the most root mass of all. the bucket was filled with roots like a sponge. so i came to the very logical conclusion that one of the greatest limitations for optimum growth-rates is the confined space given to the roots...

in organics, fungi like mykorhizza for instance do a great job as you know. in symbiosis with the roots they increase the root-surface up to 10 to a 100 times! they are so beneficial in many terms - it's just amazing! and this is only one of hundreds or thousands or more species of 'positive' micro-organisms...

i know exactly what you mean with GH and SLH... i wanted to try out SLH as well but dropped her and decided to go for those i mentioned. i just saw many reports and pictures, where the yields were not so impressive, but this can be equaled with taste/potency. i am sure you will have great results, just be patient. for i know that god rewards those, who devote themselves to sth. with effort and passion. and having grown over 30strains i know there can be found sth. special in any strain. even if some seeds grew out to be not so sensational/outstanding like others, they had sth. special/different on their own.

in fact, some of the phenos i had already selected out in an early stage and wanted to throw away because they grew slowly or weak or distorted or simply uncomparable to others... i then (sometimes) couldn't kill them because of pity/ unexplainable feelings, so i let them live in the corner or so... And (in the most cases) among them were plants (i think of a blueberry pheno right now) which were maybe not the greatest yielders of all time but maybe the best aromas and taste on planet earth! just a little anecdote before i go to sleep ;)

having said this: never ever give yourself up or lose your faith in others or what we call god... even the weak has its purpose.

gn, dem treez.
