hey man I Deff agree on the soil that is what my freind was telling me. he was saying u could be away from ur hyrdponics for like 2 days and they could die that easily.. and it is a pain in the ass and stuff... but my freind also has a 600w hps that he usedonly for 3 months that he will sell me real cheap so i think ill get that from him.. hps is for flowering right? or veggie? and I watched like half of mr. greens videos lol I wonder how long it took him to get all that green paint off of him.

the high pressure sodium bulb is for flowering so you wont be using that until u at least make some clones and its time to flower them to see what sex they are but for vegging there is two ways u can go u could go the cheap way and get some 4ft fixtures for some florescent bulbs or u can pay a little more money and get what is best for vegging and that is a metal haloid light the good thing now is that u can buy a conversion kit its like almost 400 dollars but u get the ballest for the hps bulb and the mh conversion and the hood which reflects the light and a bulb of each i know its quite expensive but it really makes things a lot easier. when i first started i didnt use metal haloid i just used florescents but i have a buddy in the city that gets me all my growing supplies for cheap like that conversion kit cost me 150 but anyways thats what u need just make sure if u do go with florescents which i would just cause its ur first grow and u dont need to spend that much money cause more than likely u wont have a success no offense but first grows always screw up but make sure u get florescents with the most lumens the ones i still have cause i used them for my seedlings are a warm spectrum bulb and they put of 3400 lumens which was the highest i found anywhere but if u have anymore questions just hit me up alright bro good luck with everything hopefully i was able to help
