I am now about two weeks into flower and realize I should had tied some of the plants. The light is at max height and I'm worried some heads might burn. Could I still tie some down or is there a "light shield" type thing to help dim the light?
"Mainlining" is best done from the time the plants are topped and have several "mains" starting. You tie them down and train them to grow up once they have been spread out..(as far as you like)...This can be done after multiple toppings.
Starting to "tie down" at this point is not mainlining in my book!
Before you start the next run. Put something white (flat white) on those walls. Get the light working for you (reflected). You could use a mirrored film if you like - You would have to attach it at the edges only and run a fan in there!
I see your growing in some "buckets"? At least 1, 5 gallon bucket! I don't see any holes in the bucket for drainage/aeration ! That is a "bad" thing!
Plastic pots made for growing are easy to get and cheap if know where to look! Take a look at Plant Warrior pots - good stuff!
Skip the "smart" pots....
Alright then, looks like I've got some work to do. I threw together some of the material. Different size pots, bucket one has drilled holes and cut slits. There is also a vent system off picture going outside with a fan on the bottom coming up.
Everything has been working great. Little yellowing now...I think from the lights. I'll see come harvest.
Looks like the only height problem is with the 3 large colas in the back. With only a couple weeks flowering you are at a good time to bend those 3 colas 90 degrees so the colas are perpendicular to the ground. It's OK if the plant stem appears to 'break" after being bent. Not to worry. Those colas will continue to flower as normal. They'll just be doing it at an angle.
NOTE -- if you had caught the problem the first week of flowering I would say to take the top 6-8 inches off the top of those 3 colas and make clones of them. I've found, however, that plants flowering more than 7 days are exceedingly difficult to root as clones. So I would bend them over now.
