This is the first grow i have posted i built a new grow room its in my basement. My plants are only like 10 days old thats why i am worrying so much. I mixed my own medium using peat moss, green sand, worm castings, dolomite lime, peruvian sea bird guana, and perlite. I germinated then started my seedling in a jiffy greenhouse under 2 flouros. My lighting is a lumatek 400wtt ballast and a 400wtt metal halide bulb. As you can see i built my own room. I havnt used any nutes on these little girls yet. but it looks like nute burn to me? I do hope that there is not to much nitrogen in my soil. The soil smelled of ammonia for a day or two after i mixed it but didnt when i put the babies in it.i would also love to hear some constructive criticism its not the most perfect room but i think it will do. I am such a newbie and it's probably a waste for me to answer you since I also grow in NFT and am currently starting my second grow with Sunshine Mix 4 ( soilless ), so really what do I know. But based on what I've seen my guess would be either nutrient burn or light bleaching. Mine bleached from a 250 watt metal halide. They weren't ready to leave the T5's until around a month or so.

But that green and then yellowing at the tips looks it. Plus seeds have their own nutrients. Take a look at my journal. I think I have an image of my Pre-98 Bubba Kush seedlings that were started 2/28. They are in soilless so they have NO nutrients and they are throwing up their 7 finger leaves! So I'd recommend starting with no nutes just a soilles mix and transplant them to something with nutrients when they begin to lighten up their green color.

Anyway I am sure some of the soil pros will be along soon and will help you. I just wanted to offer a hand and say hi.

thanx for your input if thats the issue i may have a problem because i dont own a T5 i just use two 2 foot flouro tubes with bulbs at 6500k. This is my first MH HPS set up. i have a total of 7 plants only 2 of them look like this so far.

moar dirt in them cups man.

what i would do is leave out the high N content items in your mix and repot them into new solo cups (or a bigger container) then when you water it will feed you plants with whatever is in the soil you have them in now.

sound slike you have a organic mix though so nute burn seems unlikely but i dont know much about guanno's. maybe just leave the guanno out of the mix for right now and use itas a top dress or a additive to a nice compost tea

How much soil did you mix for those solo cups? an how much sea bird guana to that?
Whats the N-P-K on the guana 9-3-1?
How often and how much are you watering them?
they getting fresh air?

Reply to the last three comments. Guano NPK is 10-10-2 I water them only when the first few inches are dry close to crusty. I do have a fan mounted in the room also to pull in fresh air.
Soil mixture is as follows i mixed up a 5 gal bucket batch with
3 parts coco1 part large chunky perlite
1 part worm castings
1/2 cup greensand
1/2 cup of dolomite lime
1/3 cup of Peruvian seabird guano
1/4 cup Epsom salts

Good call on the more medium should i stick with what i already have mixed or use something different? I could mix more without the guano! Also are they old enough to be under the 400wt MH? I located a 2ft t5 so i have that and my 2 other 2ft with bulbs at 6500k.

ok so if i mix up new medium no bird shit lol what effects do you think it will have on my plants with them being exposed to such hot soil. Main question do they have a chance will they survive?

More inert medium, less bird shit for the seedlings! Your mix is probably way too hot for younguns.
I'm liking this answer.

1/3 cup sounds hot

add more medium without guano or salt to the five gallon batch.400wt light fine its far enough away. I use 400wt hps cooled hood and slam that sucker to them. stack stack girls

Guys im back for more help my plants were doing great now im having some issues with some of them. I have 4 auto's Number 1, Blue Mystic, biodiesel mass, red dwarf, and 4 Regs. 2 Rocklock and 2 afghan Kush. I have done a ton of research about these brown spots and yellowing. I cant pinpoint the problem, so i turn to you guys for help. They were doing great and then the spots started. The closest things i have found that compare to my issue is Cal-mag def. or Nute burn. The issue with that is My Autos are getting Earth Juice bloom nutes at half strength and my regs are getting Earth Juice veg nutes at half strength. I have been using rain water when i can and PH'd tap water when i have too. (6.5) I havnt tested my run off though. Most of my plants are doing this except the 2 i moved outside this week. Any ideas would be great.

Just a FYI comment: The T codes on fluoro bulbs; The 'T' represents the shape of the bulb (Tubular) and the '5' is indicative of the diameter of the bulb (A value of 1/8" for every numerical value) and so the bulb is 5/8" in diameter. It has nothing to do with the brightness or spectrum.
