Hi everyone.
Long time reader first time poster. I had to say thanks to everyone. You all have great ideas, some... well each to their own.
I have always grown both in and outdoors with varying but good degrees of success. This year was better than usual(indoor) but hell what a battle.
These puppys are 4th time around re-gros.
What 4th time!!!??? i hear you say. Yes, my old wog mate give em to me as knee highs and they have more crown braches than you can begin to imagine. They were slow to start and as i started replacing my aging and odge bodge eqipment i saw more and more improvement. Up until i found out i was at war with those pesky little shits, .... MITES.
During veg i was worried and applied everything from garlic to isopropyl alcohol (NOT GOOD). You can add weird chemicals but make sure you rinse them off good too!
The mites dissapeared when i stepped up my misting and spraying. Obviously the humidity pissed them off. But after a two and a half day holiday (and 3 weeks of flower) the bastards appeared overnight and smashed my babies. I have lost next to all my leaves (exageration, probably 50% ) and sum buds were webbed.
I tried all the organic shit i could find.... i have to say i cut corners EVERYWHERE i can and when i saw the post somewhere on the world wide web i decided apple juice was good. Beleive me it is good but... it should be used during the whole grow to ward off mites. Next was soaps. Dishwashing detergent was mentioned i later found out they meant actually soap not detergent. Bloody hell, well it didnt kill em. But as i say wash em off. Plus i only used like 2 drops per litre.
After a nasty concoction of honey lemon, apple juice, pepper, chilli, soap, and vinegar these mites are well and trully FUBAR!!! i dont suggest spraying all this crap on your plants but do keep the humidity up to piss the mites off.
But after more examination the mites have just retreated to the dark reaches of the plant. BASTARDS... well i fixed that. THIS IS THE ULTIMATE MITE KILLING STUFF AND I CAN SAY IT IS %100 Effective. There is debate as to whether or not it is organic... but hey these mites are worse than Hitlers Nazi Robots. Or for you trekkies..... THE BORG!
Use Nicotine. Thats it, i used 1/2 a cigarette and steeped it in sum hot water until the water had a light brown tinge. You can experiment with how long you leave it and how strong it gets but hey.... it takes like 15mins tops.
The mites hate it and i noticed a drop from 10-15 mites per leaf to 1-2.
I heard it can get into the plant and poison them that way too. Great i reckon, (ps: i smoke cigarettes and i dont give a shit if your anti smoking!!!!)
I dont even care if theres some in the plant but by the time harvest comes round it should be well flushed so im not fussed. Apparently butter milk and wheat flower is supposed to be good. The mites eat it till they explode.
Well happy growing peeps i'll drop in and let ya know how she smokes.
Ill try and answer some newbies questions too!!!
Cheers
