Hello, and suggestions needed

Well... I'm growing. I started in mid November of 09 and planted more each a couple of weeks apart.
My question is my older plants loose there bottom leaves, and it keeps happening. Is this bad? And if so what can I do?
I am using a two florescent grow lights which I am hoping I can get enough lumens. But until I can get enough cash to get a HPS compact light I found for $72. But until then I'm stuck with what I've got.
Sorry I don't have a camera right now, my sister is using it because she's having a kid soon, so as soon as that happens I can get some pictures.
Thanks for any good advice you can give.

*Sighs* Well now I have a new problem. I checked my local Walmart, Ace Hardware, and Home Depot. And I could not find Garden Lime, in fact nobody knew what it was.
I wish I had a Hydroponic shop, but I don't.
Is there any store that you can think of that would have it? I have to make a trip to go into a bigger town....

I'm a bit worried. I've been comparing my plants against many fellow growers, and I do not think mine are up to par with them.
Mine are mostly stem, since my lights aren't that good. Will more foliage grow out of the stems?
My plants are looking better, I got some fertilizer, and I think it's doing the trick, for now.

Okay I just spent a bit of money of some plant food, and shit.
I got Superthrive

Vigoro All Purpose Plant Food
NPK=24-8-16
Ultra Vigoro All Purpose Plant food
NPK=12-5-7
I got some small 60W grow lights, for temporary use

And I also got a 150 W HPS bulb
And I plan on getting a ballast for it, as soon as I can. Then later on I'll upgrade to a 600 W HPS/MH light, but for now I can't do that quite yet.
Also on other news I'm an uncle, as of 3:30 AM this morning, yay! But I still don't have my camera back yet.

hi m8...looks like not enough food and not enough light, get the light closer an give them a good dosage of food...am no expert but they look like they are stretching....sud+ keep it goin m8 you will get there...:leaf:

son.. im sorry to say.. but that's an epic failed.

i plant mine mid nov.


this is how it should look.



it's a bit more bigger since the light is blocking what you cant see. and it's super growing since im in flower stage. that picture was taken around MLK (jan 18th) the plant has grew another 3 to 4 inch now.


i suggest you LOSE the small blue bulb or return it and get the CFL daylight white 100 watts. they sell em in huge pack like 6 for 7 bucks. they are 5x better.

another thing pleaseeee lose the aluminum foil. they are not good they actually can help burn the plant.

you are definitely stretchin the plant. whatever light you have on top must be brought down much closer.

but hey your in the right forum for newbies. welcome! hope u learn tons!

I am no expert, but the light seems a bit far compared to the other grows around here, other than that, i am really impressed and actually jelous, my plants are 2 weeks old (from seed) and they are still small!! :(

as i said, looking good :bigjoint: !

me and you are around the same time, i will be checking here constantly :D

I know that is that they're really fucking small. I'm trying to get a ballast for my HPS light today.
I need more money though.... to upgrade to something I really want to get.

Okay I've taken some time out of my busy day to figure out all that's wrong with my grow.
1. I need more money to get the proper lighting, and I shouldn't have started without a good light.
2. My two florescent lights are not wide enough, that is why the foliage is as wide was others.
3. Nor are they strong enough for my plants.
4. Nutrients, I didn't have the right nutrients from the get go. - partially solved
5. Light movers. I'm building one for a ballast. - partially solved

New problems...
For some reason small flys have found my grow room recently.I think they're called nats. I mean like two days ago. How do I get rid of them? I've killed all that I've seen so far, but I'm sure there is more.

Preflowers are showing on one of my plants, I can tell at least one of the bigger one is a female. The one nearest the seedlings in the latest picture I posted.
they first showed up like three days ago, I wasn't sure if they were indeed preflowers, which I why I didn't post about them. But since then, they've really been busy. They are almost a half an inch now, which is sort of trippin' me out.

And I went into town, to get the ballast, but wouldn't you fucking know it.... they are out. I asked when they'll get some more, and they don't know themselves.

Hey man don't get discouraged, this is how we learn right (not saying you are just saying sometimes there are disasters! lol)

I've seen some wicked grows with just floros.

I started myself with 5 seeds, 4 germinated and I killed them all but 2 (and nearly killed those two) because I was underwatering them in my hydro system. I was about to say fuck it and just start over again but apparently these little plants take a lot of abuse because mine have come along away since I nearly killed all the plants !!

Thanks:-P I hope once I get the new light and get rid of the flys then they'll be doing much better.
It's just a matter of getting enough money for the original investment.
Also, update I got some white paint, and I'm going to paint my grow room, and get rid of most of the aluminum foil.
I'm not sure just how much I'm going to get from them though.
