Hello everybody newbie grower here in need of some help!!!!1

So i aquired a whiteberry clone already rooted and i have it in a 10" pot under a 23w cfl is this enough light for it or do i need more??? Im also using organic soil thaat is used to grow carrot, tomatoes, and soforth. I got the foxfarm instant grow big 6-4-4 and use it every other watering which i water the plant every 3 days. Im farely new and not alot of money to spend for right now. Any help would be appreciated :D

My setup is basically nothing i have the plant under a light in the open in my room. For its night i just tend to close the blinds but not that much light comes through except through the edges which i not much. do you think ill have any problems wit it???

get a few more lights and put it in your closet and keep the lights on all the time for a few weeks then you got to get more lights you want a total of 250watts min then start to flower them18/6

Too little information. What type of soil, what temp is the light, how far is the light, how is the light placed(vertically, horizontally, some mix of the 2)? CFLs unlike incandescent give off the most light on the sides. Unless you're using top soil I wouldn't start using fertilizer so early. Normally brand new soil has enough nutrients to last 3 weeks or so. What type of pot are you using? 10" should be enough, but if it's a cone shape you really don't have as much space as you think you do.

Here is my setup its in a 10" pot with miracle grow organic choice soil and you already know what nutrients i use. I got this plant through clone queen genetics as a clone last month exactly so i dont know how old it is

I have it under a clamp on lamp with a downwards facing metal reflector not that far from the top because i need it to produce heat and it doent seem to give to much of it

The light looks at least 6" or so away from the plant. For a 23w you're going to want it 1-2 inches away from the plant. CFLs need to be really close to the plants as opposed to LEDs and HIDs. If you've been using nutes for a month now and haven't noticed any signs of burning then keep doing what you're doing. You're going to need at least 4 more 23w bulbs to have a decent grow. Plants need at least 100w per plant or 6000-8000 lumens per square feet. If you can get more light sockets it's better to use the 23w bulbs as opposed to getting 1 large 42w or higher bulb. Read RIU and grasscity's stickies about CFLs. What temps are you looking at and how long is the light on for?

Ohhh sorry i forgot to mention i lifted the light up from it but its not that far away from the top because i kno it doent porduce enough heat.

well today i went to homedepot and got an extra 30w cfl so in total at this very moment i have 99w. So far she likes it cuz she perked right up. I checked up on her a few hours later and is she straighter than ever lol ill post some pictures later on tonight

I used to think that was the case too. But I have seen various threads where people test it with a light meter and find that the bulb produces the most light out of the end of it. They are made to cast their light in this manner. The CFL's cast a directional light from their bottom out. To get the most light out of a cfl in your grow, point it at your plant.

thanks for the help. I was noticing that too that they give off more light when you point them at the object in this case my whiteberry clone.

I haven't done any research myself so take this for what you will, but aren't there more parts of the CFL on the sides as opposed to the top of it? It's a spiral so the tip has the least amount of material on it.

yeah your totally right and it makes total sense but thats what i was trying today becausei bout socket to lighbulb converters and plugged them into an extension cable and they look like a long stick lol. So when i put them in the closet i noticed it really didnt make that much of a difference so i turned all the other lights off and kept that one on and the only brightest points it had were at the ends.

What do you mean by doesn't produce enough heat? You're going for the light not heat. Careful not to cook her! You do want your lights close though.

Yeah im not tryiung to produce heat im going for the light im just saying they produce more heat when their really close to each other. I open the closet door every now and then and leave it open so they can get fresh air and release the hot air. Im posting up some pictures right now to show my setup.

So this is my little guy ive had him for like 1 1/2 months but not alot of growth compared to others but i know its cuz i dont hve enought lights.

yeah i was thinking that too but when i had to change out the soil cuz i didnt add enough perlite to it so it wouldnt have a good drainage. I looked at it and it didnt have many. I know there isnt anything wrong with it because there has been alot of new grow since i got more lights for it.

You wasted a lot of pot capacity. I would either transplant to a larger pot or if you don't have one carefully take the soil in there now, take it out and add more soil to the bottom. Looks like you only filled the pot up to about half.
